Wrong! Horrible!
Mr. George W. Bush and Mr. Tony Blair have both been nominated for the Nobel Peace prize. This is not right. It does not send a positive message. To obtain peace we have to kill people? What the hell is that?! This is outrageous!

They've freed more than 50 million people in two countries, and somehow that's wrong. . . hm.

So we sit and do nothing, I mean, uh, talk? Did that for a few years and how many died? You can't achieve peace or, heck, anything on a global scale without someone dying. You can't even breathe on a global scale without someone choking on their own spit and pushing up daisies.
Consider WWII. . . how many millions were killed by stray bombs and military tactics? Millions, millions, millions. Iraq? Heck, the best estimates I've seen have placed it around one or two thousand. They're called smart bombs for a reason, though they aint genius bombs.

I wouldn't mind the Nobel 'freedom' prize, but 'Peace'?! No way. What happened in Iraq had nothing to do with peace. A peaceful solution would have been to continue the inspections, which would have told us there were no WMDs, therefore no reason (if you follow what Bush said in his, I believe it was his second State of the Union adress) to go to 'war'. Invasion of a foreign country is in no way peaceful *L*

To comment on the original topic of the thread. . .
Congratulations to President Bush and Prime Minister Blair. They have their issues, they have their weaknesses, and I don't like 'em all the time, but hell, what a nice job they've done. Unless some fella brings peace to the Israelis and Palestinians or Bill Gates renounces Microsoft and donates his fortune to AIDS research, then I think that both President Bush and Prime Minister Blair deserve a fair chance at winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
I remember a quote from Bob Dole, "Never before have so many people been so wrong about so much." Really inspiring.

Peace isn't the absence of fighting, it's the opening of the door to prosperity. Freedom is part of peace, just as peace is something that comes from freedom. Iraq was given its freedom. Now, whether it can maintain that, I don't know. But I hold out more hope for them now, despite the current climate, than I did when they were ruled by Saddam Hussein and his hinchmen.

I agree with Robert on this one. Congratulations to them on their nominations...
Iraq had "peace" before we decided to go to war with them? Just because two countries aren't going at it in a "war" doesn't mean it's peace. Saddam tortured and exploted the citizens of his owncountry every day without so much as a second thought, and by going to war we were able to end such violence and oppression. To me, it merly seemed as though it was the big push before the end of the race... They'll be better off after the war now, or we hope anyway. So kudo's to Bush and Blair.

The keyword here is nominated, not received the actual Nobel Peace Prize. This is most likely a political move by the nominating committiee.
But here is something you failed to mention Dom, and I quote from the Washington Post online article,
"Norwegian lawmaker Jan Simonsen of the right-wing Party of Progress has nominated Bush and Blair several years in a row, including this year."
It is one person's nomination...and a member of the right-wing party. That about settles that concern doesn't it?

So someone has a sick sense of humour to also include the like of Hitler and Milosevic. Nice...real humanitarians that they are.
