Where would you like to see a Union Hosted? After Vote, please specify a specific city or general area.
This topic is being created for all those Union Planners who want to know where the majority would like see where a union should be planned.

-- Suggestion -- From CL2 Rob rob39874@lycos.co.uk
He was wondering if anyone would be interested in holding a Outpost Union in newcastle, as there are some good venues.
Please Post your thoughts here.

Where has each of the "official" unions been now?
The US, Amsterdam, Canada, The UK (if you count this one coming up) We've not done Aussieland yet, though I can't go if it's way down there. Can't it come back to the US again ?? Please oh please?

*fetches a soapboax*
funny how all the unions so far have been in Northern Hemisphere countries, bloody uppity earthlings, try looking upside down now and then, and you might notice lotsa places you've missed. And as to costs, it costs more for us poor aussies to go anywhere cos our dollar is worth like 10 cents anywhere 'cept for Kiwiland, but then again, who wants to go there? .....
*puts away soapbox*
*gets soapbox back out again*
and I did not already vote.... stupid forum!
*demolishes soapbox*
.....please have a nice day....

Here, Here!!! Even if it was somewhere a little closer to OZ perhaps on this side of the hemisphere, rather then on the other side of the planet more Aussies might be inclined to attend a union. Me for one. Vegas was fun but I am not going anywhere that is going to cost me that much money again. Especially someplace where my money aint worth spit.
Tis all I have to say

Here's an idea...when Worldcon (the World Science Fiction Convention) is held outside North America, there is also a similar convention held in either the US or Canada for those fans who cannot afford to travel overseas. Could OTF not do something along those lines? And possibly Web conference the two?

Here's an idea - people organise get-togethers wherever they like and people interested can attend. Australians can organise get-togethers, Americans can, Canadians, Europeans . . . . why complain that get-togethers aren't organised for Australia? There was one there a couple of years ago . . . just do it again. You don't need to have the 'official' tag to have a good time, just a lot of friends who want to have fun.
For what it is worth, I don't think the 'official' tag helped attendance at the London get-together - we only had one attendee from North America, everyone else was European. So I really can't see why people should get their knickers in a twist about this. Organise an Aussie get together and see who turns up. Easy as.
As for web-conferencing get-togethers, well . . to be honest I don't want to spend a single second online when I'm with friends who I've been waiting for ages to see in the flesh. Why waste that time on a PC? (I once suggested we do this but my heart wasn't really in it. In my view it would only work if we web broadcast something like a live promotions or awards ceremony.)

no harm but I couldnt afford to go to a union in the US or Australia which is why Ive only been to Euro ones I imagine most of us are the same (ie people can't afford to travel too far from home)
So organise your own Aussie union . YOu can't wait for someone to do it for you.

Guys,
One of these days - years down the road when we're all lawyers, bankers, doctors, accountants or what not - we'll meet up on a tropical island somewhere.
You know it's going to happen.
Regards,
Andrew

Andrew, you mean on OTF island!
Well would already be fun if DS won the lottery and got the bar open. Got to start some where if we want our little island.
We get together where we want and when we want. The fun is ours to creative, the date is ours to decide. A get together with one peep is eh.. a disaster... That’s why we ask where other wanna go, and when they can come.
