Okay.

A quick post. This week Karen and I, while we wait for our new place to come available, have been staying in a hostel. It's designed for backpackers and has a bar, a basic breakfast thrown in and has showers. It's also central (London Bridge.)

Depending on the size of your dorm (14-8 people) it costs between £9-16 per night per person. Now I KNOW this will not be the option for everyone but should enough of us want to do it we could book out entire rooms. I personally think it'd be a hoot, and also it has the beauty of being bloody CHEAP. It might help people who have a limited budget to come and for those who don't fancy it, we can find a hotel, no worries. :)

Of course the idea of getting a bunch of OTF-ers/AH-ites in dormitories might mean the end of the world as we know it. Itwill probably lead to much giggling, talking and little sleep! Sounds like fun!

In that case, I have now made up my mind whether or not to sleep naked, if I can make it to the union. :)

Me and Shea had travel cards when we where in London i think :) Because you could use them all day on both the train to London, the subway and the buses too i guess although we only used the subway to get around London :)

And we didnt have the chance to visit all those locations Demon Slayer has on his Union page. We rode the London Eye, visited The Tower of London, Madame Tussauds, went to Hyde Park where we unfortunately had missed the Star Trek adventure by one day. But other than that we didnt do anything else in London. We where only there a day.

So all those things sounds like fun :) And it will be fun to see who can make it. Shea and i will try to make it.

Erm, Do we have a finalised weekend yet? Just want to clear a weekend and mabye book my Train tickets Early (they are way cheeper if you book early)

I dunno anything about London the most i've seen of london is Heathrow and bits and peices of Hyde Park  :}  so where abouts should I stay (hotels) etc. It is kinda difficult to know which would be the Best.

Kudos to DS and his Unions site :) Good Stuff   :)

Hmmmm, interesting, I haven't decided if I should come yet.

I have a place in North London, so accomodation isn't a problem for me either...

Well I have enough time to think it over.....

Well if its just 3 days in august i dun think the peeps of work will have a problem with that!  So I'm 95% sure that I'll fly over :D.
Do we know more about the exact dates yet? Perhaps its good to start on that? So we can search for hotels, prices, flights and stuff like that? So all dutchies as example can get on the same flight and such Would be fun ;) also perhaps a few hotels that are very close together? So we can all stay at the same block? And have those late coffee nights that ended at 7 am ? *L* *waves at the Amsterdam union gang*

I definately want to see more of Londen this time, next to the market, the big ben and 247 pubs *nods* A bit of culture will do me some good ;)

Ooooeeehhh And i wanna do some shoppin'!!! :D
Who of you ladies is with me? Just like 3/4 hours or so? :) Perhaps? Maybe?

I maybe going to the US for a week or so sometime next year - no idea when but before August!

It shouldn't affect me going to the London union as I plan to use my savings (no new computer :(), but I just want people to be aware in case things don't work as planned with me

Linda - hmmm well depends on how many ladies and what our tastes are.  For example - I couldnt shop at the same shops as you and someone older than us wouldnt want to shop at shops aimed at 'younger' ladies (this isn't intended in any kind of insulting way).  So it may take more than 3/4 of an hour  - well unless we get all the shops reaaaallllly close together! :D

Okay, a date . . . I propose that we work around the second weekend in August.

Looking at a calendar, August starts on sunday the first. Well that's not really the first weekend in August so how about we say the weekend around saturday the 14th August 2004?

I realise that people will be attending for differing lengths of time so maybe it is best if we concentrate the 'main events' around this weekend, although yeah, some people will be in London for a full week, I'd guess. For now though let's take a straw poll and see if August 14th works for everyone.

By the way, Karen aka Commander Zeddy is also helping out with Union ideas and suggestions so that's one more pair of hands/eyes etc to help out scout out hotels and stuff, it was her who suggested the hostel idea. On a darker note she has mentioned hooking up with the likes of Teek, KK and Linda and causing mayhem with them, so we have been warned!! :?

Classes begin for fall 2004 on August 16th, so I don't think the 14th is viable for Alexis and myself..
