http://www.trektoday.com/news/290104_04.shtml

A rumour has surfaced that Paramount may plan far more sweeping changes than the time slot for Star Trek: Enterprise.

An anonymous source has told Cinescape that Garry Hart, president of Paramount Television, may be considering replacing the Enterprise production staff, possibly including longtime Star Trek executive producer Rick Berman.

"It would seem the lackluster support of Enterprise by [UPN executives] Les Moonves and Dawn Ostroff at this weekend's UPN press junket has gotten the attention of Garry Hart," wrote Cinescape's Patrick Sauriol. "From an insider...at Paramount Television's Marketing and Media Relations Department, a memo has been spotted suggesting Hart may be waiting until after Enterprise's February sweeps performance to announce the possible replacement of some of the show's production staff."

The same anonymous source, notes Cinescape, correctly leaked information about the show's planned change in time slot. However, stated Sauriol, "these are rumors right now and not known facts, and until our scooper chooses to show us hard proof of their claims or we discover another means to confirm what they are telling us, an open mind should be kept."

Please treat these allegations as unconfirmed rumour. As of yet this information has only been reported by a single source, and it is questionable whether specific information such as this would appear in this manner in an internal production memo.

Dierna note: Oh gods I hope this rumor is true!!! :? Bye Bye Berman!!! As they've said on "My Wife and Kids": So long sucker, see ya, bon voyage, arrivederci, later loser, goodbye, good riddance, peace out, let the doorknob hit ya where the good Lord split ya, don't come back around here no more, hasta la vista, kick rocks, and get the hell out  :k

I still don't think it's enough. 'Enterprise' should be canceled, and Star Trek should stay off the air for a few years.

Another producer doesn't mean "Better than Berman" automatically. Obviously, UPN and Paramount have turned a blind eye towards the franchise for some years now, continuing two series past their prime and producing two unsuccessful movies. A new producer may very well remove all of the old barriers from Star Trek and bring in more sex, more violence, and less of everything else.

Hi,

As much as I enjoy Trek I tend to agree with Robert that they should take Enterprise off air and give everyone a Trek break for a few years.  We're all trekked out; it's been on air since what, 1987.

A break will give fans a chance to cool down and of course get excited about a new Trek series should it be launched down the road.  The writers/producers can also take some time to carefully think out what they'd like to do with the franchise in the future.  While they could take down more barriers let's hope they realize the direction the franchise has been heading in and put a positive spin on it.

(PS - No series about those time traveling police, thank you...)

While I use to be totally angainst the idea of trek going off the air I am forced to agree. I think we need to take it off for a few years I agree with Maxwell on this one. We need to take Enterprise off the air and not put another series on the air for some time. For example I dunno but I heard Enterprise was meant to be released in 2002 or 2003 not 2001! Though they seemed to put it on straight after Voyager which was a big mistake I think. So yeah take Enterprise off the air and wait a few years before doing anything wih Trek!

I heard off of a little news snipit from TrekToday that Scott Bakula might be involved with Paramount Executive Gary Hart in the selection process for new producer(s) for 'Enterprise.'

Another news article I heard, also from TrekToday, came from Garrett Wang, formerly Harry Kim of 'Voyager,' who said that he'd approached Rick Berman about changing the direction of that series. He also spoke about his disappointment with it.

If Rick Berman is fired, will Brannon Braga be fired too? Worse still, would Braga end up boss? Who is worse?

At least it seems that even ex stars know there's something desperately wrong in trek land.
