Sherman Hemsley (The Jeffersons) will lend his voice to the title character in Fox's pilot for an updated version of the classic TV series Mister Ed, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dierna note: CAN'T THEY LEAVE PERFECTLY GOOD SHOWS THE HELL ALONE WITHOUT FRELLING REMAKES?! WE DON'T NEED A FRELLING REMAKE OF MR. ED!!! LEAVE MR. ED ALONE!! IT'S A CLASSIC SHOW THAT DOESN'T NEED A REMAKE!!!! *mumbles...Fox...mumbles*  :o

From what I heard, the choice of Sherman Hemsley was to give the new take on Mr. Ed an 'urban' appeal.

I'm with Dierna. I think they should leave classic series such as that in reruns only.

The original Mr. Ed was actually a female Zebra named Amilia. The reason Mr. Ed was cancelled was cuz they didn't wanna go to black and white to reviel the secret...:P

Why would anyone want to make a remake of Mr Ed?  The words bottom, barrel, the, of and scraping spring to mind. Are they so totally unable to come up with anything vaguely original that they've had to resort to remaking shows totally unsuitable to today?
