Hey all!
You know what would be cool... is to be able to have a little avatar unders our name in this forum... I mean all the other forums do why not us 
well just a tought anyway... not like I use the forum often anyway *lol*  that was probably discused once a long time ago I suposse

I seem to remember this being discussed a while back... As far as I remember, the answer was "no, but maybe in the future..."
I could be wrong. And probably am!
It'd be nice, but i suppose, what with BNT taking up so much bandwidth, the last thing the server needs is avatars on the forums :K

P.S. Personally, i think i'd like the option of using signatures *nods* Something like those over at Alder Hill?
P.P.S. Another idea would be to have a rank image displayed underneath the peep's username... where the CL is now... Show rank rather than person. And possibly, one would be available for forum guru, special rank (eg. from trivia) holders etc?
P.P.P.S. Bring back the improvements thread!

I like KC's idea about rank being shown, and maybe a siggy. It's true that over on Alder hill there are avatars in forum and sigs, but I can understand that a large variety of avvies might eat the bandwidth.

The board AH uses is, I believe, different than this board. Besides that, they have a lot less members and activity than we do. As I recall, avatars, signatures, and other details like that were ruled next to impossible for us to get given bandwidth issues. Besides that, this forum software is copyrighted out the wazoo. No telling what changes can and can't be made and how they'd effect us.
I'm happy with how the forums look and function right now. I've gotten used to the little quirks here and there. I'm glad that we're able to run this forum as we do in the first place. Besides the occasional abuse by some members, myself included, *grin* the forum is a lot more tranquil place than it used to be.

I moderate a Manchester United group and we have just moved to a system called conforums. We all get our own custom avatar and generate about a thousand posts a week and we don't have any problems with bandwidth etc. If you offered only the choice available in the chats it should be okay, surely . . . the OTF avatars aren't that big in size. The ones I've made for OTF certainly aren't, less than 10k each I think. Maybe around 2k? Can't speak for the rest.

Babel is right about the size of avatar.. I my self did toons for different special even for OTF and properly compressed they never weight that much... the highest I've seen was 4k I think... but hey that is the choise they made to not have avatar and we have to live with it I guess...
all am saying is that it would be more fun...
