Thanks for the concern, I am alive at least.  Other events have managed to get me today.  Naomi (the wife) works in Aldgate, just around the corner from the station, she got into work early though so was off of the train 30 minutes before it exploded.  She had alot of trouble getting home though and ended up walking from Aldgate to Stratford.  The events that then got me rolled into play.  I tried to pick her up in the car, but someone rear ended me at 30mph in stationary traffic, and totalled my car, so I tried to take the bike in, which was fine until I got pulled by the police for speeding and dangerous driving/riding (it's not my fault if people hog the overtaking lanes forcing to over take, well actually, apparently it is)  Anyway just shown Naomi her totalled car, she has gone to sulk.

Oh I love my life.

I don't think Rex is a Londoner, but if he was he doesn't work in the centre of London anyways - there aren't any car engineering plants.

A girl at our work was taking her son over to London to Great Ormond Street for an operation.  We think she's okay as her flight was at 7am and we assume the health trust would of paid for transport, but of course she can't use a mobile in a hospital so we weren't able to find out.

Glad to hear all the London OTFers are ok. It was a terrible thing to happen but inevitable . . I think we all wondered when it would be. It was not a case of 'if'. But life goes on and it will take a lot more than this to make Britain 'burn with fear, terror and panic'. I felt really solid with Londoners yesterday . . . this morning the Tubes are pretty quiet but people are still coming into work, showing two fingers to the terrorists.

It was a bizarre day yesterday . . . I was on the stretch of track between Liverpool St and Aldgate 25 minutes before the bomb went off there, so that shook me a bit. When the reports started coming in we just sat tight at work and waited for things to calm down. We eventually left at 2 pm and I walked with a mate to Archway, and we found the nearest pub and watched the cricket, regularly turning over to watch the latest news. I can't think of any better answer to the terorists than that . . . the capital is attacked with many dead and people are still watching cricket. Our way of life will never be destroyed by these evil creatures.

We're fine. Thankyou for thinking of us. :) We live an hour or so along the motorway from London. But, it was an anxious day until we heard from family members in London.

Well said Babel.

I truly believe we still have the spirit our grand parents have in this country during the war. 30 years of IRA attacks pretty much proved that.

Sure, there was inital shock, and fear from those immediantly involved. Who could blame them? But for the terrorists to make a statement such as "Britian is burning with fear, terror and panic' is way off the mark. We'll go about our lives the same as we always have. Maybe with more determination and contempt for them than we had before, but exactly the same as we always have.

If their statement was true, London would be empty this morning. And people like me would not be proceeding with plans for a short break to London to visit my family.

My big hope is that our idiot tabloid press does not play the race / anti asylum seeker card once more, and whip up a frenzy due to this. That's the last thing we need. Don't get me wrong, i want these people caught and punished. I don't even mind Treason charges being brought if, as is likely, they are British, and treason still carries the death penalty here.

These people are not Islamic, they may think they are due to some warped teachings they've recieved. But true followers of Islam would never carry out mass murder.

It's a great shame that the last two days has seen this country witness a huge high, and the very worst low. Winning the Olympic bid was a wonderful thing. Then this. I suppose those two days are a snap shot of the state of the world. I hope one day it will not be as polarized.

We may have to give up some things we percieve as liberty, such as added security, and maybe I.D cards. But Britian is the wrong country to try and terrorize.

I am very proud of the people of London. And the emergancy services. I'm relieved all our London OTF'ers are safe, and their families.

Anth

Hi.. * Jadzia here *just thought I would add a bit to Anth's post ( yes I'm  a lazy bugger regards not logging in )

Thanks you for all your concerns .. as Anth says we are both fine.. not been on line much as I have been ill, and find sometimes it very hard to concentrate will I'm hurting.. anyway

Just a quick word, to those who think you can bring us Britts to our kneess.. Were strong, we stand tall and proud, and when our way of life is treatened..no mater what colour race religion, we stand shoulder to shoulder.. you are cowards.. and I turn my back on you as we all do.

We are very proud of you Londoners, we feel your loss and pain, but we also feel your strength.. I applaud you all

Now that it has all finally sunk in and it appears certain that all of the Londoners are safe and secure I think it is now time to reflect on the tragic events of yesterday morning.

They, as has been stated, are trying to plunge our nation into a state of mass pandemonium and panic and apparently they believe they have succeeded. This is far from the truth. I was watching the news all day yesterday and, apart from when the blasts occured (obviously), there was no wide spread panic, fear or hysteria. I'm proud of the response, and it was, as the cliché goes, typically British. The way people were still walking around the city of London trying to go about their lives as best they could; I don't think there is any better way of we Britons showing that our way of life and our values will not be changed or defeated.

Londoners have been through a lot over the past few hundred years and this 'experience' showed once more as, like Jeremy said, we turned around, give the terrorists the fingers and showing that they will not win.

One thing that really pleased me was Mr. Blair's response and decision to return to London. Some may say this was dangerous due to security etc - but I fele it had to be done. He had to be with his people and at the scene. I salute him for that decision.

Firstly... Why has Babel re-registered as a CL2? :?

Secondly, my deepest, deepest sympathy goes out to all those who lost people and/or property during the horrendous events of yesterday. Like the rest of the world, we were glued to the TV-so much so that I almost missed an appointment. I could not be more glad that all our OTFers are safe and well. The world is standing with ye on this one. And for what it's worth, the chat forum of scouts.ie is already petitioning the Chief Scout of Scouting Ireland to send an official letter of condolence to London. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Thirdly, I have to say, I am vastly, vastly impressed with how it was handled. There was no mass hysteria. There was no mass panic. There was no rioting, looting and terror. What there was was calm collectedness, order and a real sense of community. Many's the story I heard about people pulling together and helping each other yesterday. For that, I can only salute the people of London and the emergency services who I think it's fair to say handled the events diligently, professionally and safely. Well done to you all...

Fourthly, to quote my mother while she was watching the news; "Those damn terrorists didn't see that coming. Now they're really in for it. The [expletive deleted] [expletive deleted] upset the Queen. THE QUEEN :o Go on Liz! Give 'em what for! :o" (For the record, my mother doesn't usually call her "Liz")

Fifthly, and finally, to quote something a friend said last night "Yeah. It was really impressive wasn't it? It was like 'Yeah. There was an explosion a while ago.
-Ghastly, business, don't you think?
-Oh terrible.
-Are people ok now?
-For the most part. The injured are being cared for and the dead, bless 'em, are being dealt with accordingly.
-How monstrous.
-Terribly. Tea, anyone? Crumpet?"
which, I suppose, in perhaps a humourous manner showed how well the English responded to this threat. By being English. I'm sure there was plenty of tea flowing yesterday. And so it should have been.

Once again, my deepest sympathies to all.

Logan--What a day!!  I'm relieved you and Naomi are ok, but I'm sorry it was such a rough day and that your car was totalled.  :(

Glad to hear the rest of you Londoners are ok.  Jeremy, I had sent you an email, but wasn't sure if I had the right one.  Glad to hear from you too!

*hugs to you all*  If there's anything Jon or I can do to help, please let us know.

I'm ever so glad to hear that you guys are okay... I've been out of it for a while, but that doesn't mean I didn't worry. It's a huge relief to know that you're all right!

And my sincere sympathy, condolences and support go out to the people of London, the UK, and whoever has friends or family living there. From what I heard, the way you people handled this was nothing short of admirable. That kind of stoism and solidarity is what makes real heroes. People try to shake up your country, and you keep going and stand tall and give them the finger. That takes strength, and you have my admiration for that. I honestly don't know how you do it, I don't think I'd be able to stay that calm if I was personally affected, not like that. Unbelievable, and totally amazing.

I guess it goes to show that nothing can get you down. The people responsible wanted hysteria and panic and terror, and you didn't give them that. You've set an example for the entire world on how to deal with these guys, and for that I think we all owe you one. Thank you.

Lastly, I hope the injured pull through and recover, and as for the dead - may they rest in peace. I'm pretty sure they'll rest easier seeing how the people of London and indeed the UK dealt with this, refusing to degenerate into terror and sending a clear message to the people responsible.

You guys are amazing. Well done!

As has already been stated, the perpetrators are way off the mark if they think we're quaking over this.

Yes, ok, i'm a bit more worried than before (I live in a major British city) (EDIT: not London...) but mostly i have just been angry at the people who did this. Although I really do hope that people's anger doesn't transform into a backlash against anyone because of this.

Whats sad is that there are people willing to blow themselves up in the name of their god, But even true muslems know that any god wouldn't want this.. Seems to me every religion has it's radicals, we have the KKK, and other groups here that have no real purpose but to cause panic and fear.

It's so sad what happened, sometimes I wish the world mirrored star trek's earth of the future, atleast we have OTF, it brings some order to a chaotic world.

Terror is wrong in any form, if we face them we face our greatest fear, and once we over come it they have no more power!

Okay, folks, I'm just going to say this because it struck a different chord in me when I saw it on the news last night.

A woman who is desperately searching for a missing family members said *not word for word, so forgive me*:

'It's alright saying Londoners are tough and we'll just take it on the chin, but what about my missing person? I don't care about all that, I just want to know where they are and if they are dead or alive.'

Okay, that is so not verbatum what she said, but I think those of the country who are saying it's the whole blitz spirit need to remember that for a lot of people their world has fallen apart. They don't give a damn about shouldering on regardless.
