How strange is this? On Saturday 19th November the Irish Lottery was won with the numers 04 - 08 - 15 - 16 - 23 - 24

Pretty much all those infamous numbers of the Lost mythos were called. The only number which wasn't present was the 42. However, if you invert the number 24 you have the 42.

How frikkin' strange and cool is that? :D :?

It's not very stange and cool at all :(

What is strange, is that if you reorder the numbers a bit, substitute some other numbers for 5 of them.  And remove one of the digits, you get my phone number. :?

Was anyone else dissapointed that this thread wasn't SG announcing that he'd lost the winning Lottery ticket? :k

Am I the only one who hasn't actually seen these numbers pop up in Lost yet? I must be too engrossed in the story :D

QD : Not sure where they are on Ch4? There is an episode of season one which really concentrates on the numbers. It can't have aired yet, or you would have seen them. Also, in season 2 you can't miss them numbers, i promise. *L*

I downloaded the whole first season last May, and watch the new ones as they come out now from the U.S. We are really hooked here. *L*

Lost is one of the best series for ages i would say. :)

Most of the LOST numbers are indeed quoted often in Season II.
Moreso then Season I.

and Yeah that's kinda weird.

That is kinda... weird.

I love Lost.

I think they only mentioned the numbers once during the first season... when they were telling Hurley's story.  (I know this, because I bought the first season two weeks ago, watched it for the first time two weeks ago, and have seen all episodes except the last eight twice since then!;) ... Anyway... I'm glad they're mentioned a lot in Season 2... argh... the pain of not knowing what's going on and trying to avoid spoilers... I keep finding out stuff about Lost and Desperate Housewives, yet I only got into them three weeks ago... it's tough. ESPECIALLY the having to wait for them to finish the second season and release IT on DVD.

Yep. Ramblin' ooon..

The numbers feature at least 3 times in season 1 from memory, in a big way.

I don't want to outline where they crop up, unless it's in a thread clearly marked with *Spoilers* :P

If anybody is worried about being a long way behind and fearing they may get the whole thing spoiled, they should get downloading on bit torrent. Get all the eps, and not have to worry about seeing spoilers.

What i like about Lost is, you can get to the end of an episode, and say "can't wait to see what happens next!" then the following week they won't even take you forward at all, they'll just show you the previous episode from another point of view. :D

They really write episodes that are outside the box. very different, that's what makes this show so fresh.

Anth, well maybe you think that now because you've seen the second season (or have you?) .. I've only seen the numbers in one or two episodes but ... not only have I never seen a single second season episode but I have only seen the first season eps twice.

Christena... nothing to be ashamed of... that's pretty much me! I started Lost & Desperate Housewives like two or three weeks ago... (difference is I just can't stop!;)

Appreciate the nonspoiler thingy... cuz... like... yeah. I've learned spoilers to the second season, and then people took 'em back, and it's just all... confusing and stuff.

Admittedly I only watched the first couple of episodes but I thought Lost was formulaic, predictable and not very interesting. :(

This is probably the reason I watch so little TV, because it's all the same.

Hurley's 'flashback' episode is being aired this coming Wednesday on Channel 4, for those who haven't seen all of Season 1 yet, during which they go into detail about the whole numbers thing..

So yeah, watch it.

AFAIK, they've only aired up to episode 8 of season 2 in the US, episode 9 is due out this coming Wednesday I think. So apparently you have better sources than I...

Tell me. You must tell me! :o  :?

I really do have to disagree (respectfully) with those that think Lost is predictable.
It's just out there! I have to say by today's standards, it's going to become an icon. It's unique and fresh and full of life and mystery. I am so very tired of Reality TV I could puke. I get enough of real people every day in my life. I like TV/Movies or what not to take me away from it all. I've heard a theory from an old co-worker about what exactly "LOST" is. And I have to say, it made so much sense to me. I'm not saying that's what JJ Abrams has planned for the show, but the theory did make sense. I won't discuss the theory here, but am always willing to dish my favorite show on msn, should anyone want to engage in conversation!
Lost Season II has me more Lost than Season I did, that's for sure :)
Glad so many are enjoying it as much as I am.

Nicoll: I did lose the winning ticket. :(

And, no, Lost is not predictable and formulaic in the least bit. You only have to watch more than one episode, and what you think is gonna happen is, in fact, not what happens at all. It's usually something totally shocking. You only have to watch the end of Season 2 Episode 6 for the latest proof of that (albeit, I haven't seen episode 7 yet... that's tonight's viewing! :) ).

And, yeah, Kym, I hate reality TV, and I can't believe those idiots at ABC have cancelled Alias. So called "reality TV" is pushing a lot of good shows in to cancellation. Alias was the forerunner to Lost, and is what allowed JJ to create Lost. If you want a show full of compelling, shocking stories then Alias is it... definate must watch TV is Season 1 and Season 2. I hope ABC doesn't make JJ change the format of Lost, like they made him do to Alias, because that's what changed the show after Season 2. :( Lost is too good a show for some execs who think they know what they are doing to go fiddling with a working format.

Yeah, just last week it was announced that 'Alias' will finish the 5th season this May and that's the end of the series. At least ABC is letting the show wrap up. (ie: Kill just about everyone off)

Besides, the show jumped the shark in Season 3. JJ Abrams has been focused on "Mission Impossible 3" (MI3) and "Lost". What most likely killed the viewership of "Alias" (aka: How much bigger can a pregnant Jen Garner's boobs get?) was moving it to another time slot, along with more of the same missions and good-guy/bad-guy issues....having a main character riddled with bullets from an Uzi at point-blank range doesn't help either. :P

Watch 'Lost'. It's quirky, but a good show.

Sorry SG. It's a bummer, but I guess ABC needs the time slot for more "Extreme Makeover of some kind or another" or some other lame reality show.

Yeah, after season 3 things changed. It didn't have the same feel to it as Seasons 1&2, but that was mainly due to the fact that ABC wanted the format changed so that new viewers could be introduced. The innovative aspect of the show was the continuous plots, and surprsing twists, but ABC ordered "stand-alone" episodes, so JJ and crew had to accomodate, and Alias changed.

Not to mention the fact that both the actors who played Francie (Merrin Dungey) and Will (Bradley Cooper) left after Season 2 to pursue other things, and these were the only characters who weren't agents. As a result Syd lost her personal life, and the show became primarily about her in the CIA, rather than her having to deal with being in the CIA and having a RL as well.

Then with JJ, Ken Olin, and Sarah Caplin moving on to other projects the people who originally brought us the show were gone.

It's a disappointment, but I look at it this way; the [undeserving] cancelled shows usually seem to be the ones that get the film deals :D ;)
