I would like to take a minute to say a few things about our former Commander in Chief and Fleet Admiral. Andrew Maxwell.

I am greatful to have met him back in 1997 and added him to my personal 'friends list'. He has been a great comrade and in my eyes, the heart and soul of this community. He accepted me as his friend and others as well, he started a great place that I again say... is my cyber-home away from home. And has been for the past 10 years.

If Andrew does see this, I want to say thank you to him and all he has done for Me, the Outpost, and the whole lot of us that call this OUR Outpost. Thank you Andrew for being a great founder, creator, and a wonderful friend. I hope that I still see you at least one more time.

I hope everyone got the same from Andrew as I have, he was and is the best! and I know that Daecrist will do a good job.

Thanks again and I will see you later Andrew!

Andrew,

I wish you much luck in all that your future brings to plate. I would take a moment to say thank you for always being my guidance where the incorrect path may have been taken, you are a inspiration to us, the community and to yourself, you have earned many peoples respect in this community and they will cherish that most in their hearts.

Thank you for your dedication to this community, its existance and to its members.

Sincerely,

William

Andrew,

I know that it had to be a difficult thing to do, after all without you and Terrance there would be no OTF!

Andrew,

But wait! You must reconsider! HAL doesn't have the same easily manipulated affections for me! He may actually punish me for being a pest! I think I can see a way around this though; surrender OTF to me.

On a more serious note...Jeff Greenwald. Okay no, serious, I'm being serious. Thanks. Thank you for making OTF, I have thoroughly enjoyed it these past ten years, and as one of the few who have chatted for all ten of those years I think that means a lot. Also, thank you for your she-makes-me-roll-me-eyes-but-i-can't-help-but-lov e-her attitude toward me. At the time in my life when I joined OTF I was quite desperate for attention, but totally annoying *l* and was very willing to settle for "tolerance." I always joked that you tolerated me, but you did more than that and I noticed it. I've tortured you throughout the years only because I appreciated you so. *l*

Don't get any ideas though, HAL. I torture you because it's fun.

Anyway, back to the ol' Rascal...thanks. If your work ethic, attitude and character irl are anything like in OTF, I know you'll have success at anything you do, even in the times when you fail miserably.

DON'T forget us. Especially me. I don't like to be forgotten. And Vancouver isn't that far away, I can always come remind you in person.

Polson

P.S. For people who don't understand Polson, the above is a poor attempt to express my heartfelt admiration for Andrew that he has fought hard to earn but man has he earned it.

Thank you for your kind words.

Please note however I am not leaving the Outpost for good. I will still be around, just in a new role. This role not only better suits me, but also the Outpost.

I'd ask my resignation from the CiC slot not be seen as tossing in the towel, but rather a nod to a new leadership team with a new plan for the community. I trust the membership will give the new leadership team the opportunity to take the Outpost forward.

Regards,

Andrew

Well even though your hanging around I'm going to take the opportunity to say thank you. You probably don't remember but years ago you put faith in me and I was given a second chance here at otf. I appreciate what you did for me as I've enjoyed my time here since then & made some great friends on the site and been able to keep in touch with some that were long lost.

Thanks for what you did for me & all of OTF whilst as CiC, hope now it'll free up a little more time for you to enjoy the place as a chatter more than doing it's books etc

Wha?? Andrew stepped down?? I didn't see a thing on the forum....so I figured it would be on the other board...sure enough!

This post is late, but i'm just seeing the thread today. Andrew Maxwell (Rascal) I'd like to say thank you also.. For a time I felt like an outcast in this place, but you and so many others opened up to me, and made me feel welcome. Times were good, times were bad, but we made this place our home. No matter the hardships we faced IRL we came here, to a safe place. A place that we belonged, a place where everyone knew eachother. Many of us have gone on to our adult lives, but we all remember this place, many of the people I met here were young like me, most just entering adulthood. And I think many of us were scared (I was) of what that meant, I wanted to have fun, I didn't want to be an adult. But as most things do, adulthood happened upon me, and I surrendered. But I will always have those memories of this place with me.

I would have to say, that if it hadnt been for Andrew, I wouldnt have stayed for as long as I have.

Andrew, you've not only made this place a great community for all to join in fellowship and friendship, but you've also made OTF a Home to many of us. I consider you not only as a guide and a friend, but as someone to relate to in certain times. Memories mostly. The good times we had in the chats, were all worth every moment. You made OTF the place it is today.

And as long as we're here, so help us all, we will Keep OTF alive. I've been a member for 8 years and I sure hope it to be another 8, hopefully more. Thanks for everything my good friend.

Peace and Long life.
Live Long, and Prosper.

I love Trekkies. We're so predictable.

Sorry. I'm just amused. I've been working so much that I'm not usually online to joke around with like minded sci fi fans. At work I've been nick named "Trek" simply because I'm an obsessed STARGATE fan. THAT'S how much they know about sci fi.

Uh...derail! Nothign to see here, move a long, move along.

Sorry. I'm so bored.

I didn't know... I feel terrible that I missed this. I would have given Andrew a going away present. I remember beta testing TF (back when it was just Ten Forward) with Andrew (aka Rascal and others) and the other transfers from Spooky's and I'm amazed at and extremely proud of the family that has come from your dedication and hard work. I hope we will be able to stay in touch, even though I haven't talked to you for a bit and this is just a little late, only a little!!!! One of these days, Andrew, I will get to give you a hug in person... Eventually... When I finally get to Canada.
