The Imperial Palace is the only one of those I actually saw when I went, and it was nice but remember it being a bit more pricey. Sahara is probably your cheapest choice on the strip but it`s kinda far down on the North. Hooters is close to the south side where the bigger famous casinos are so less walking to the action. Wyndham if it`s what I think it is is also kind of out of the way. I can`t speak for any of the others though. But you really want something right on the strip, as walking forever in the hot desert sun takes a toll on you after an hour or so. Hooters, Bill`s, and Imperial Palace are probably your best bets.

The The Orleans Hotel is alittle off the strip,

Hooters may be going out of bussness but that wouldn't be till after the union. it's not a far walk from the main strip. it's also by unlv so near cheeper food.

i dont know about the other two. when i get home in a week i will drive by them, maybe go in them ad look around.

the Sahara is a bit far from the action BUT it IS connected to the monorail!

i will be at my house which is 45 mins away but it is is where i live :/

Sadly, there weren’t enough votes to come to a decision on what hotel to choose.

I'm hopeing to book my holiday in the next few weeks, and just hope that people that do turn up are near by.

Which hotel you going to book into? I looked but really the only thing I care about that it isn't too expensive.

I'm in the same boat as Harm on this one. As long as it's relatively cheap, has a bed, and isn't on fire, I'm good to go.

Here are the rates for the various hotels, if anyone's interested. The rate at Bill's is kind of a guestimate, as they don't do reservations that far in advance. This is also assuming that we don't get a group rate or anything.

Hooters Casino Hotel $534
The Orleans Hotel $455
Wyndhams Grand Desert Resort $833
Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon $427(ish)
Imperial Palace Hotel $425

Checking the reviews, Hooters is kinda run down and dirty, and mainly targeted toward young 20-something singles. Seriously, what'd you expect? It's Hooters. The Orleans Hotel got pretty good reviews all around, the only complaints being that the hotel's looking a little worn recently. The Wyndhams Grand Desert Resort got awesome reviews, the only real complaint being that it's a long walk to the strip. Well, that and it costs nearly twice as much as the others. Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon also got excellent reviews, the primary complains being that the drains in the showers and such are a little slow (seriously, this has shown up on like three different sites) and they're kinda stingy with shampoo. Mixed reviews on the Imperial Palace Hotel, alternating from multiple people complaining about theft and filth, to people giving it four stars.

So...uh..unless anyone else has any input, how does either The Orleans Hotel or Bill's sound?

I like the sound of both of them, it just depends on how close to the strip people want to be.

True, Bill's is actually on the strip, and the Orleans is about 7 miles off.

Not sure yet.
Looking through hotels.co.uk at 3star hotels, and its a toss up between:

Excalibur Hotel Casino at average of £55/$80/119AUD a night, at the south end of the strip.
Excalibur Hotel Casino

Sahara Las Vegas Hotel and Casino at average £37/$54/80AUD a night, but it's at the north end of the strip

Stratosphere Tower - Casino & Resort Hotel at average £27/$40/58.5AUD a night, also at north end of strip
Stratosphere Tower - Casino & Resort Hotel

The reason i'm looking at these is due to credit crunch, bad investment returns, and the weak pound to the dollar.
I presume this is per room, so cost can be cut if I share with someone.
Unless someone can find a better deal, i'm going to have to go with one of these three

I'd go with the Stratosphere, personally. Decent reviews and super cheap rates. That, and apparently there's a shuttle to the strip that runs pretty often, so the location isn't that big of a deal. I can relate to trying to get the biggest bang for your buck, I'm going to this off of a student's income. *l*

Talking to Demon Slayer about Activities that we should do and we came up with some stuff:

1) Day 2: Hoover Dam - The dam is located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas on US Highway 93 at the Nevada-Arizona border.
- Depending on the amount of people attending, we would have to consider options of transportation, Kaela's car holds another 3 people. We could also rent a Van ( $390 for a 7 seater with hertz ) DS was saying for 200 a week, which would hold 7. Also talked about who would drive =P just incase DS Sprained an ankle or something.

Costs:
Powerplant Tour - Adults (Ages 17-61) $11.00
Hoover Dam Tour - Adults, Seniors, Juniors, U.S. Military & Dependents $30.00
- Major credit cards and cash are accepted.

2) The Grand Canyon - The Grand Canyon is located about 250 miles from Las Vegas. Taking highway 93 south from Las Vegas to Interstate 40 east to highway 64. The trip takes about 4 1/2 hours and takes you right over Hoover Dam.
- Quite a distance, would have to talk about this one more.

I should hopefully be booking my hotel and flights this weekend
I'm hopeing due to the ecenomic downturn that i can get a good deal from travel agent when i pitch them against the internet.

So far my two weeks in USA (Flights and Accomedation, minus transportation) is around £1000($1400)

I'm thinking about going with the Stratosphere Tower, looks like hotel fees for a week is less than $300 due to some sale they're having. I still need to call and see if that'd apply for the dates we needs though, as it's too far in advance to use their site search.
