Anybody around these parts in Google Plus yet??

For those not in the know it's Google's answer to Facebook only more private and you don't get inundated by games and such. Im on there if ya wanna be in my circles. Or I can invite ya if you want an invite. Im still learning all the bells and whistles which is fun in itself. *lol*

This is my page for those already in that wanna add me:

More private in that your information is forced public and there is no private only option?

There's a private only option. You can set it so that only you and the people in your circles (or just a certain circle) can see the info.

Quark's right - if you want to use Google+, your Google profile has to be public - it's mandatory. Granted, you can have as little information in your profile as "name" and "sex", but it means anyone can find you and add you to their circles without your permission.

You can of course block them, however.

You shouldn't really look at it like "What can Google+ do for me?".. it's a social networking tool. If you want to socialise with people that are using G+ then yes, you should use it. Just don't expect to be able to play Farmville on it.

It has some interesting features, but it's not Twitter or Facebook. It's only useful if the people you're interested in communicating with are using it too.

Well I like it. They might have some games in the future. Who knows. I didn't join Facebook for the games (even tho I DO play games). I joined it just to keep in contact with family. Now I use Google+ to keep in touch with everyone, plus I like the chat feature, and all the other gadgets and gizmoes that Im trying to figure out. It's a new toy.... and tonight I found a feature where you can have a domain name instead of giving everyone a zillion numbers to find you.

So my new URL to google+ is http://gplus.to/Dierna

Yeah, there's also the http://plus.ly domain shortening service too.

They'd seriously better not introduce games to G+. Farmville requests are just about my biggest bugbear in FB...

Also, the chat feature has been around for a while... it's in Gmail and iGoogle, it's been available as a standalone desktop client for a long time and it's in most, if not all, Android phones by default.

So really, G+ doesn't bring THAT much new stuff to the table. It's as much as a case of doing what all the cool kids are doing as anything else really.

Sonata Form actually posted a pretty good rant about G'plus' on his libro de caras. Maybe I'll copypasta it.

Steve, please do - I don't have the link to any of Jesse's sites any more, so if you could supply that too, that'd be awesome.
