Hi everyone,

I have heard that screenings are beginning for Nemesis tomorrow.  As we have a policy here NOT to discuss critical newly released movies in the chatrooms (so that everyone has the chance to see the movie without hearing spoilers) I figured I'd open this thread for those who have seen the movie and would like to talk about it, or those who haven't seen the movie but don't care about finding out what happens before seeing it.  If you don't want to hear spoilers *points to the door* then go, now!

Here's what I know. Data dies saving Picard.

Also, they had sucha huge budget for this film, that they didn't have to throw themselves around the bridge! The bridge thew them! That's right, all the sets that get filmed while the Enterprise is "under attack" are built to be used on a hydraulic gimbaled platform so they can shake the sets.....clever.

Hiya hiya hiya!!

I saw Nemesis first thing this morning and no ADMIRAL Janeway doesn't die...puleez! She's only in one scene...She tells Picard to go to Romulas!

Data dies tho... :(...But at least we have B4 now. Oh BTW Whoever put up those Avatars...they need to change the new Soon Droid's name from B9 to B4.

Oh Im kinda mad at Berman and Braga and all them cuz they LIED!!!!!!!!! THEY SAID WESLEY CRUSHER WOULD BE CUT OUT OF THE MOVIE BUT HE WASN'T!!! I saw him!!! I saw Wesley!!!   HE DOESN'T TALK...HE'S JUST THERE LISTENING TO PICARD'S SPEACH!! Ok so he laughs at Picard's jokes but still...he IS in the movie...I wasn't looking for him but he was right there on the far left end of the table next to Dr. Crusher!

Some tidbits I'll say about this movie*besides the fact that it's one of THE best trek movies ever! Up there with Undiscovered Country*

1: Guinan's been married 24 times
2: Irving Berlin is not a good thing to listen to if you're a Klingon with a major hangover *L*
3: Picard's got a shiney head*according to B4*
4: Worf now respects Romulans. Even telling Riker "Those Romulans faught honorably"

All in all...I loved this movie!! Even if we didn't see the Betazoid wedding... ;)

All I can say is, wow.

I went to see 'Nemesis' last night, Friday, at 7:30. The theater was packed solid, and I was fortunate enough to be sitting on the very top row, center.

Throughout the past week, I have read so many bad reviews of 'Nemesis' that I went into the theater expecting to see a terribly boring, terribly unimaginative film. Even as the credits rolled by, I kept wondering what predictable situation they might find themselves in, or what drawn-out speech might dampen the mood of a battle.

Then, the Romulan Senate was obliterated, and boom, I was glued.

I read the spoilers, as I was too undisciplined not to, but even knowing what I did going into the film, I was still very surprised when the Schimitar started firing volley after volley of disruptor and torpedo blasts at the Enterprise-E.

Wow.

Like any movie, there were problems, some minor, some major (i.e. the fact that another Soong Android exists, how it got there, etc.), but in the end, as the end credits rolled by, I found myself impressed.

The effects looked more real than Star Wars', and the acting was impeccable. Even Kate Mulgrew's appearance as Admiral Janeway seemed fairly plausible! The music, while not as dramatic as TOS films, was superb, and it subtly made the tension rise in the theater when action drew near.

Still, all I can say is... Wow!

I'm not going to tell you to go and see 'Nemesis', but I will tell you that, at the very least, it was not a disappointment for me.

I agree, after hearing many bad reviews, I was expecting something like SW EP: II, but I was plesently suprised when I saw nemesis on friday when it opened.  I wished they had kept some of the origional sounds for the Enterprise-E during the battle scenes, but watching the Enterprise rapid fire torpedos at Shinzon and his ship made up for it, even though I'm still wondering why they didnt use quantum torpedoes rather than photon, but in any case it was an excellent movie, the acting was excellent, and all though it did have Captain Janeway....errr Admiral Janeway in it, it was a good movie :)

Oh, I was wondering, what ever happened to the armor technology that was on voyager at the end of the series, I was looking forward to seeing that in Nemesis, but didnt.  *Shrugs* oh well *L*

You're going to be waiting a long time if you think the DVD is coming out in January or February, most DVD's take several months after the movie is out of theaters to be released on DVD, and Nemesis will most likely be in the theaters until at least Feb.  For the Nemesis DVD I would plan on something more like September or early October.

Hi there,

Went today to see Nemesis with our little Vancouver OTF grouppie.

Overall, I really enjoyed it.  While I'm not a movie buff/critic by any means I think this one rates up there with the best (Undiscovered Country).  It was very intense; the plot is much more solid than Insurrection and finally a decent ST movie that doesn't involve time travel (I always disliked that - too convenient).  A few things I liked:

1) B4's silly remarks, "why does that man have a fuzzy face?"

2) Data's death - if he had to go it was a great way to finish him off.  He'll always be #2 behind Picard

3) The Nemesis' death - impaling himself further to look Picard one last time in the eye was particularly intense

4) The ship "dogfight" - very nicely done.  Notice how they were fighting a cloaked ship again, just like in the undisputed best ST movie, Undiscovered Country?

5) The whole "Picard meets his greatest adversary - himself" theme.  It was neat that both Picard and Data faced the same issues.

6) Picard & co. flying out of the little ship in their dune buggy like madmen.  Didn't quite seem like the ever cautious Jean-Luc *S*

Things I didn't like:

1) Admiral Jayneway? Pullleeeaaazeee..... She comes back from being in the Delta Quadrant for 7 years and is promoted to Admiral?  Giving orders to Picard? I certainly wouldn't do that at OTF *eg*

2) Worf "magically" appearing on the Enterprise - again.  I thought he went back to the Klingon homeworld?  Some info here would have been nice, especially since this could be the last TNG movie.

3) Who is the new first officer?  With Riker gone and Data dead, who will fulfill this very crutial position?  Why didn't they tell us?  Again, if this is the last TNG movie I'm rather disappointed...

4) Someone already mentioned it - another Soong Android? Found by the Remans?  Scattered across a desolate planet for the Enterprise to find?  They're stretching it...

5) Wesley sitting there but not saying anything?  Is he still a traveller being?  It would have been best just to keep him out and consider him "lost in space" than opening the doors to speculation. Again, not the kind of thing we want to see given it could be the last TNG movie.

And: a makeout scene in a Star Trek movie?  Wow!

Well, there's my shiney beaver.

As the movie  is about to begin, I'm excited.
As the intro plays, I feel a twinge of regret knowing that this could very well be the last  TNG crew movie (although with B4 and the refitted Enterprise, they leave the door open for another one. Just like shooting SPock into a planet).
THe  movie begins with the wedding and I'm bored. Although Worf getting sick was a disgrace. ALl that Blood Wine and he cant drink a little ROmulan Ale? Ever Kirk could (STII). The Senate scen was cool.
As the Argo lands and the sand rail flies out the   back I say to myself "I  have GOT to get me  one of those!"
Remans are ugly. Shinzon's arrogant.
B4 is pathetic
I think the Schimitar was overly armed and underly used. with 48 Disruptor banks an 27 top tubes (or whatever it was). It could've blown Picard sky-high in one shot.
Data jumping between both ships was neat.
When Data blew up a tear welled   up in my eye (but never quite made it out ;))

FOR THOSE WHO MAY NOT KNOW:
The bridge set was built on a hydraulic gimbaled platform so that the whole set could shake alleviating the need for the cast to throw themselves around the bridge.

WHen Picard was tapping onhis PADD in his office..did anyone notice what  he was really using? HMmm. Blue tube...brass ends...it gets smaller at the tip and widens again... WHat could it be?
It's called a Pencil Torch. It's a handheld butane torch available at your local hardwar store for $1.99 :P

I thought B4 was created by the Remuns just to attract the Enterprise....

Anyway, I also wonder why Worf is on the Enterprise again, and not too much explination is given to who will be the next first officer.  I suppose that sets up the stage if there is going to be another TNG movie, B4 takes Data's spot or a story along those lines.  Nemesis was also well ended in the fact that it could be the end of the movies and it would still work and leave any future voyages to your imagination seeing as so many of the regular cast and crew are gone now.  Troi and Riker are on their new ship, Data is gone, that leaves Worf to somehow find his way back again and Picard and Geordi on the Enterprise.  Oh yes, and Dr. Crusher is back as well.

Another question- how weak have the weapons gotten in this movie, the Enterprise and the Praetor's ship pound on each other for a long time with torpedos and phasers galore but it takes a long time for their shields to drain away, also, I wonder why quantum torpedos wernt ordered used in the first place since obvisouly the enemy ship was much larger and well armed.

In responce to the question of why is Wesley in there for just a second, well, its because his scene got cut, along with about another hour of additional footage that wasnt needed/wanted since the movie was going to run too long.  Wil Wheaton discussed this on his site a bit ago before the movie was released.

And as for Janeway.......ugh, they should have demoted her for getting her ship and crew lost in the first place, and then put in the brig for damaging the ship so much and letting so many of her crew die, some captain she was.....

I loved Nemesis! Its much better than Insurrection i have to say!!

And i agree with who ever said "I have got to get me one of those" when they saw the Argo. it's great!
Honestly when Picard said its name i thought he said Arogon! the accent likely.

B4 was alright, His lines were great! if he was a prototype before Lore it would make sence that he would be a littler dumber.
Now B4 hasall of Data's memories, but he can't really put them to use for a while. Even after getting them all he's still pretty stupid! It was pointed out to me that the memory transfer is a lot like Spock passing his marbles to McCoy!

Shinzon pulling him self on to the rod before dieing was great... but as i rewatched LOTR:TFOTR last night It reminded me a LOT of when the head Orc pulled him self on to Arogons sword. Its a good idea... very dramatic... but every one uses it now!!

Im surprised no one has mentioned the War Birds!!! Those things Rock!! 115 decks!! they're huge!!! and very very good looking!!

I loved Shinzons ship and weapon! What an amazing weapon... and an impresive ship as well!

I wish Riker would have punched Shinzons lights out for flirting with Deanna then later getting in to her mind!

I'm very very sad that they Killed Data! I love Data! But hey... he went out in a bang... no pun intended... well ok it was intended... but still... I was in a packed theater and i sad out loud in to the silance "Oh They did NOT!" I was ticked!! I almost cried later when we got out of the movie! Ok thats pretty sad... i shouldnt admit that... but its the truth i was mad! :P

OK the whole sistuation with Weasly Cruncher ;). Ok i can see him being there for the wedding! He was a friend and natualy could be invited! But i want to know how he got back and why the heck he was in a Lt's dress uniform! Even if they'd had a part int he danceing scean where someone said "Its nice to see weasly.. whats he up to now a days?"

I dont understand why you all hate Janeway! She wasn't a bad character... maybe a bit annoying Voice... but hey... I love Fran Desure who plays the Nanny! If i can deal with her voice than i can deal with Janeways!
um... i think i have more to say but i cant think of it now!! :P

The whole *rolls eyes* Wesley Situation makes a lot of sense to me. The fact is that if you don't have the time in a two-hour movie to delve into all of these neat sub-plots, then you have to shove aside some scenes. From what I have heard, at the end, Dr. Crusher is to become head of Starfleet Medical on Earth, a position I believe she held in the second season on the series.

The deal is, is that if you wanted to see Wesley, the new Number One, Lwaxana Troi, Robin Lefler, Leah Braums, and all the other rumored guest appearances that I had heard about, then the fans should have asked for either a new television series or a made-for-tv movie. While I think that I could sit in the theatre for three hours to watch a Trek film, I doubt that your average John Doe would appreciate the comings and goings of the crew.

Hopefully, someone out there will write a novelization of 'Nemesis' that will describe where everyone and everything falls into place, that is, if no one already hasn't. What could happen, is that someone, somewhere, will write a few novels about the characters we didn't get to see. It's always possible that novels will continue where the movie ended. I'd certainly be interested in buying them.

He was a bit more than a supporting character like Brahms . . he was as much a member of the regular cast for a LONG time. He should have at least had a couple of lines, if nothing else.

Nemesis sucked! In so many ways I can't even begin to tell you.....

And given the fact that for ages TNG has been my most beloved seris, made it all the harder to sit through such a "bad job" movie.........bleh.

Now I'm annoyed.......*wanders away*
