As you no doubt know, some extremely interesting Star Wars games are currently under development.
First of these is the MMORPG* Star Wars Galaxies , which should come out during next year. Beta testing has already begun!
An FAQ about this game which is updated almost every week, can be found at the official SW Galaxies website.
Read through it, and be prepared to shell out your $10 monthly once this baby arrives 
*: games like 'Ultima Online' and 'Everquest' are MMORPGs, but as SW Galaxies proves they don't have to be Fantasy-themed

It's bad when you live only 40 min from the U.S. border and YES cant participate in beta tests.. *Sigh*

let's just put it this way, i'd be getting this game if...i had parents that let me be online 6+ hours a night, a job so that i'd be able to pay for the service, and a faster connection, like dsl or wireless (i may be getting wireless  ) but otherwise, i probably won't be getting this game  it's ok tho' i'll live

Seeing as:

I think that I will stick to MUDs to satisfy my online multiplayer cravings... At least until I am willing and able to spare whichever price they ask.

Well it soudns like it's going to kick total and utter hiney indeed, so I doubt I could resist were I to try it myself. It appeals to me more than Everquest, I have to say.

Having been a solid Everquest player for 2 years now I doubt I'll get myself started on yet another MMORPG, but this game looks real nice! I'm gonna have to try it out for sure...

The game engine is based on Everquest's, so the transition should be smooth for you 
I really wish this game were to be free ^.*

I'm not sure if there will ever be a transition for me. After 2 years in one game you've put a lot of time and effort developing your character(s), it would pretty much be like starting all over again. But if the game is as good as they want to make it sound like, it might be worth it...
One thing about these games I've learned, it doesn't matter all that much how good the graphics are etc. What it all boils down to is the actual gameplay experience and the content, and Everquest has both.
As for the fee, it's not that big of a deal. The money ensures that the developers can continue to expand the game over time, as well as keep it dynamic and ever-changing. It also allows them to provide online service/help to the players. If you're into this kind of gaming I'm sure you'll find that it's well worth the money

I'd for sure be willing to pay a fee should the experience of the game be rewarding enough, and more importantly, I have the cash to spare.

After looking further into what Galaxies will be like, I must admit my geek-ness is evidently increasing. Let's hope that fee doesn't get too high.

Ah... if possible, a Chiss serving the Empire
If not possible (and I expect it not to be), plain vanilla human -- Imperial, of course. Gotta love those uniforms!

I always tend to create evil characters, I dont know why.
