Well, it's obvious the long-time fans have abandoned magazines like these.

'Star Trek' seems to belong to the Berman Trekkies now...

Like these?  ST: Monthly is a very good magazine with a varied content incorporating all but the animated series.  However since TOS has been repeated god knows how many times and all that can be said probably has been said many times over, almost the same for TNG really, I'd say that was more the reason than anything else...

However!  Thought you might like to hearthe editors choice!

1.Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
2.Jean-Luc Picard (Kirk was their second choice)
3.Star Trek: TNG
4: Data
5: Spock Dies (pokes Kamin - his third choice for this was "Picard realises why he became Kamin")

Good grief...

Top Ten Best Theme Music:

Star Trek: The Next Generation (Though they should have said 'The Motion Picture', given that this theme is derived from that film.)

Top Ten Starship Captains

James T Kirk (How can there ever be any competition?)

You Favourite Series

1. Star Trek: Voyager (This is just sick! )

5. Star Trek: The Original Series (This is sick as well. To rate the first, the forebearer, as next to the last is vile to say the least! )

Top Ten Most Loved Characters

Spock (Why weren't any of the other original crew listed besides Spock? In my opinion, Doctor McCoy should have been first. He is, after all, the nicest old country doctor there ever has been! )

Top Ten Moments

"The Needs of the Many" (Is this referring to Spock's death? If so... definately #1)

The idiocy of this poll is reflected in that the themes for The Motion Picture and TNG are one and the same *LOL* I really don't think I need say any more.

As for Voyager coming home, do me a favour. All we got after seven interminable years, was a one-minute sequence of Starfleet officers doing their best to be all stiff-upper-lipped. Dramatic? Naah. Come on. I've talked to lots of Voyager fans who felt robbed of seeing the ship arrive home 'properly'. Not forgetting, of course, that 'Endgame' was the single most witlessly plotted Trek episode since 'Spock's Brain'.

For me, this poll had a lot in common with the recent 'Hundred Greatest Britons' poll, and all these types of polls - they are always hopelessly weighted towards the recent at the expense of the past. So the results are best taken with a large shovel full of salt. ;)

Don't insult the poll, the poll is impartial and the votes are from the readership.  It wasn't multiple choice either.

Personally Im not a big fan of TOS (apart from Spock).  The Acting is dodgy, the effects are firmly of the time and the fact that the women are running round in entirely impractical skirts really gets on my nerves.  I'm guessing I'm not the only one.

It could also simply be a case that the younger readers aren't exposed to TOS anymore.  I mean when is it ever screeened in the UK?

Still - it sounds like sour grapes to me :P

*l* It may well do, but my point stands. How elese do you explain the Greatest Britons top ten? John Lennon? Princess di? *l* Same with this poll. I'm not insulting it, just pointing out a truism of all polls of this nature.

. . . saying this, I heartily agree that I DID insult the fact that the SAME piece of music is at two different places in the poll. *L* Defend that, Kathryn, I challenge ye!

A Voyager movie would be terrible, and would be the least successful Star Trek film to date. There would be no point in making something they know would bomb at the box office.

For me, it just goes to show that as the decades pass, television becomes more and more mindless. Seems to me that, even with plywood sets, plastic weapons, and cardboard crates; TOS was still more plausable as an epic space adventure. It was "Wagon Train to the Stars", but now it's just a "Winnebego Ride to the Trash Heap".

a voyager movie could work... however it is very unlightly that this will

a) ever happen

b) be a success

unless of course they decided to get some "proper writers " in.

But i would luve a telly movie, that could work?
