Ugh...looks like a Shistavanen (wolfman from original ANH cantina scene) and a giant rat mated. Ugly bugger...:P

Defel? *l* One of Arthur's knights in the earlier Arthurian tales was one Derfel Cadarn. The legend has it that he later became a monk. There was a statue of him in Wales for many centuries.
Bernard Cornwell, the writer who invented Richard Sharpe (the English soldier in the Napoloeonic era) wrote his own trilogy of Arthurian books, but more solidly grounded in a contemporary 5th/6th Century setting. We didn't get castles, knights with shining armour or dragons; instead we got hill forts, chain mail (if the warlord was rich enough to own it) and Saxons. Lots and lots of Saxons to fight. The tales are narrated from the point of view of the Lord Derfel Cadarn.
This was a VERY slight excuse to educate people as to Mr. Cornwell's brilliant books (the excuse being these creatures are the Defel and the main character in the Warlord books is Derfel) but so what. Check out the books if you can; you can contact me for details if you're interested.

This is the Amazon entry for the first book, 'The Winter King'. Battles aplenty, it's good but gory stuff. It's a trilogy, the last book is called 'Excalibur'. Wonderful stuff.
