This poll and subject are dedicated to those of us who feel like spending the next 18 months speculating on what is gonna be in the final HP book.

My vote, seeing as I am posting first, is for over 1000 pages. There is simply to much Harry needs to accomplish to complete his mission in less then 1000 pages.

I'll get more in depth into what I think is gonna happen in the begining once some other people post so we can debate it.

I don't think it can possibly be shorter than the last one. To be honest *from a loose threads remaining point of view* I can't help feeling finishing it all in one book is going to be a bit cramped.

See I don't really know.

As mentioned in the other thread it's been said that JK has effectively finished writing the final book (and I'll assume this is true).....has she had enough time to make it epic?

I *really* don't know, I mean it could only be a year (or 2) since she finished HBP so unless she was totally struck by the muse.....

I hope it *is* epic, but I wonder!

ES: Is the last word of book seven still scar?

JKR: At the moment. I wonder if it will remain that way.

MA: Have you fiddled with it?

JKR: I haven't actually physically fiddled with it. There are definitely a couple of things that will need changing. They’re not big deals but I always knew I would have to rewrite it.

MA: But it's definitely still on that track?

JKR: Oh definitely. Yeah, yeah

MA: How do you feel that you're starting the last book?

JKR: It feels scary, actually. It’s been 15 years. Can you imagine? One of the longest adult relationships of my life.

MA: Have you started?

JKR: Yeah. Realistically, I don't think I'm going to be able to do real work on it until next year. I see next year as the time that I’m really going to write seven. But I've started and I am doing little bits and pieces here and there when I can. But you’ve seen how young Mackenzie still is, and you can bear actual witness to the fact that I do have a very small, real baby, so I'm going to try and give Mackenzie what I gave David, which is pretty much a year of uninterrupted “me time,” and then I'll start writing seriously again.

As you can she, she has started the book, but not finished it. Except the last chapter in which she does the 'and these folks that live, live happily ever after, or not so happily'.

And it will probably be shorter than phoenix.

as it is harry potter, i need to invade this thread! ah ha ha ha ha!!! *evil laughter till I choke on my coffee*

my theory is that Lupin is gonna trick Harry. when Harry tells him that he isn't gonna go to school next year, he is gonna invite harry to join the order under the rule that regardless fo what they say, he is to follow their order. Harry, being happy that Lupin in on his side, agrees and joins the order.

Lupin then tells Harry that his forst job for the Order is to finish his 7th year at Hogwarts because that would be what Dumbledore, Sirius, and his parents would have wanted.

Thus why the book is gonna be over 1000 pages.

Nice theory. False though. In the interview mentioned above Rowling states that she has written the final Quidditch match in book 6. If Harry were to finish his final year at Hogwarts he would remain on the Quidditch team.
I'm guessing Harry might still visit Hogwarts, but it's all gonna be about finding and destroying the Horcruxes. So no finishing Hogwarts, but seeing a lot of the wizarding world outside is.
Btw, I don't think the book is gonna be over a 1000 pages.

Isn't it just the one horocrux? (left I mean) the missing locket.

They might end up going back to Hogwarts at the end to finish their year

The locket! The locket!

Rember in OotP, cleaning number 12 grimauld palce and in the dining room, they came across a locket that they couldnt get open??? Did they throw out?

A locket! Is it the locket??

Does that mean that the locket was there all along? Who has it now? Kreacher? Mungdungus? The bin men?

And this puts more into the thoery that RAB is sirises brother, unless... does R.A.B have to be one person?? Could it be 2 people? R And B? Or 3, R and A and B???

Just thinking.

KittyKat, you see its like this, tiamai has very little upstairs, so, little bits of info like this stick like bits of food stick to teeth.   :D

Nah, its because I've read the book about 12 times... not all the way through, just the interesting bits.  It did take me a while to rember it though...  ;)

I definitely think that it'll be over a thousand pages. There's just too much information left to be explained for it to be less than that.

I personally hope that it's really long. I just can't get enough of the series. I hate that it has to end. :(
