I really like blogs, and I think that this is a great idea. Having a free Outpost 10F one would be awesome!  :)

I've learned from Lupus that they can actually help organize your work a little better. *l* I recently set up a Gateway Blog to record my Gateway work in, and it's very useful. So, I'm all for this.   :)

I'd absolutely love to have a blog on here! It would be way more convenient for me and you can get to know others better  :)

No, I wouldn;t consider using an OTF blog. For the simple reason a few others have already mentioned.... the Prime Directives.

I have a blog elsewhere. In my blog I want to be able to say what I want, without restrictions. Sometimes I want to rant. I might even use strong language. I don't want to have to worry about being family friendly.

I like the idea of having a blog here, but as other people have said, PD's would havta come into play....and that being said, my blog would be mostly blank  :P

Maybe instead go with XZ's idea, do the thought of the day thing which you can input before you enter the chat....perhaps make it part of the login form. That way when you login it appears as one of those icons next to yer dossy/recent promotion thing. When you log it could read right along with the statement that says you got an award......kinda like "Iain has recieved an award recently, and he actually had a thought today! Everyone go read it before it goes away!"

What do ball bearings have to do with a white and blue dog? Get with the program, Teek.

Giant white and blue dogs are obviously robotic in nature; hence, the poor doggy must've lost a few of its innards.

Which program is that, then? :D

I would suggest just placing warnings on all blogs that their content is possibly offensive and should only be viewed bylogged in members or something like that?

what about blog rating and ratings guidlines. so before u see the article  u see the rating along with a short once line sentence that describes why that article gets that rating by the auther. that way  a person can say what they want. and someones whos possable easally offended can gp "oh ok so i may not wana read this"

I remember when certain things were phased out of otf  like violent simming and chats and C merrages, so that OTF would  apeal more to more mature people. As meture people  lets face it most of us use language in our daily lifes the chat filter wont let us use and i think we should allow that in blogs if people want. and with a ratting system such as PG13 or Rated R we have an outlit to do that.

But we should keep such rules like u cant talk about  u wana shoot up school and how you plan on doing it, or  your sexual fatasies, or activities of that area.

but stuff like  god i hate mr rogers he gave  me an f because he dont like me. he should get hit by a buss the A hole.

we are mature human beeing and lets face it we would be stupid to think kids in there early teans  dont know or say this stuff already.  they get from everything they do, comics, videogames music mtv.

when i was a kis we were kept away from these things and such our parents watched damn near everything we did  even saying  oh crap was grounds for getting a stern talking to.

its not like that anymore, and if the parents arnt gona be so strict with there own kids. why should we? last i check it wasent our job if its not our kids

in materrs of sex and stuff i agree but the F bomb is only a meaningless word, a worrd made by man.  and yet we still say wtf in chats and any idiot with half a brain knows what that is.

l lesson restrictions on blogs and with otfs techknowlogy otf could have the best blogs anyhere on the net

my rant is over

My view is that you have to maintain consistency. If the PDs apply to the rest of the site then they must also apply to blogs. Hence me saying I wouldn't personally have one here; I'm not decrying the idea, by the way, just that it is not for me.

To have different rules for different areas of OTF, or to apply the rules differently, would be a recipe for confusion and mayhem.

If the PDs apply to a chat room someone has set up in the web-space they have purchased on OTF's server, then they certainly apply to a free blog on OTF's server.

Uhm... firstly I agree with what Eagle and Babel have said. PDs should apply everywhere on this site, and to everyone. Equally.

Quite apart from that, I don't see why "mature" people need to use that kind of language anyway. I am perfectly capable of expressing my anger without cursing - if I need to, or if I so choose. And I'm pretty sure other people can be as inventive.

And whether people say the F-word outside of OTF is totally irrelevant. Sorry, but to me, "The others do it too!" is a kid's excuse. :P

the problem wouldn't be as much about cursing as with the content, controvbersialviewpoints can offend as well, thats what I would place a warning label on, there is no need at all for cursing, we manage to express ourselves without profanity in the chat and we should be able to express ourselves without profanity in a blog.

If there was a free blog (i love anything free) could the server handle it?  and it should be linked to the dossy system i think.  The friends system should also be movied to it if there was.

also i would be worried about abuses, but then again it can't be worse then the forums! *L*

And you need a new poll chocie, a i think it would be nice to have but i don't know if i would use it.

that is what i think.

thank you for asking :D

people are saying about OTF copying and thelanguage used...

a blog is a blog...they are all the same...why could we not do it?

also...why can we not have some form of age restriction on the blogs...for instance...those that contain offensive language be restricted to 18 or over...and have them as a link from our profiles...if you don;t want to see the offensive language you don;t have to look...;-)

I like Brady's idea with the disclaimer.  That way, if you continue on to read someone blog, you're on your own and cannot blame anything you read that may be offensive to you on OTF.
People should be mature enough not to use anything language that is offensive, but if you must, I don't want OTF taking that fall.
Like I tell my son, just because you're a legal "adult" does not mean you must use "adult" language.
