Don't normally write on forums even though I read 'em, but you guys seem interested in figuring out how to get and keep new players, well I'm new to the server, first round, so here's what *one* person in your target group thinks...

Under 3 months is a short game, don't over complicate things or you might as well play alien assault traders, work on the economy you don't really need to earn 1*10^15 credits in the first few days to make the game interesting, it's usually the lack of money that makes people creative

Race wars sounds interesting I'd like to try that especially to get the training but wouldn't want to play that way all the time

So anyway, another round of race wars would be good, especially if it assigned players to races randomly and hiding how many each group has until the day.  As long as it keeps the numbers equal is all that matters.

And to assist players who join later, how about disabling the buying of turns until day 4 or otherwise limit it to 800 turns 2nd day, 1600 3rd day and 2400 4th day and then leave it at that.  This means the players who join up right away don't get much of a head start.

Lastly, Is it even possible to have a variable interest rate.  Base it on the highest players in the game and give those who have lower scores higher interest.  I know this would probably be hard to code but its a thought.

Anyway, just thought i'd add my 2 cents.

Yeah I know this round hasn't been long, but in reality it's over. there's too many level 53's.

By the way, I was recently destroyed by 20,000,000,000 torps on a planet. There torps were at 52. my torps were 50, sheilds 50, armor 50, and comp 52. What did I do wrong? I'm out of this round anyways now, obviously, but would like to know for future reference. (sofa'd about an hour to get torps that low, they had no energy or fighters.)

Brian, you gotta have your torps and armour at at least the same level to take a planet.  Fighters and torps still work without energy, energy is only used for beams and shields on the planet.

Darth, I think there is a problem when sending the verification code to aol adresses and it takes 3 days I think before it arrives.  Next round you may like to get a free hotmail account or something so you can get your code quicker.

lol, welll I'm not quite that stupid. My point was all the planet had was torps. I know that fighters and torps don't need energy :). But thanks, I didn't know that you had to have the same level, I thought since I had more torps, armor, energy, etc. I could take it. Thanks for help :)

Yep, its a little annoying and can be quite close.  When attacking Xpanding planets that had 48 mill torps left, despite have level 54 everything I still came out with 44 points of armour. 5 more torps and I would be dead.

I will be ending the game at 15:00 EST Saturday and resetting on Sunday evening at 6 EST.  The settings will be lowered back to more reasonable rates.  Not as low as the old rounds but lower than this one so we don't run into the cap again.  We hope to find a good balance in the next couple of rounds.

Sorry folks had a slight emergency.  Game is reset.  Settings this time around are more normal somewhat.  6000 sectors, still have high amount of turns which I am keeping, but lower interest rates for planets and IGB.  Still slightly higher than the old rounds but no where near the crazy amounts as last round :P

Like I said before I am keeping this No Attacking option during the first week in the game for the forseeable future.  I think it does make things a little more fair as it gives everyone a chance to get started.  If your wise and don't group all your planets close together, with 6000 sectors you should be able to have planets all over the place and make it almost impossible to loose everything for a couple of weeks.

Err...oops? :D....I was half asleep when I made the changes.  I changed the sectors in the reset but forgot to change it in the config file.  So for this round we are stuck with 8000 sectors as it would require a reset to change it at this point.  The IGB and planet interest has been corrected.  I forgot to add and extra 0 in the IGB amount :?

lol, that sucks. i was wondering how two players with less than 25 mill col. were gaining so much when i have a full planet...

well at least I put my money in the IGB long enough to get me into 3rd, guess its back onto the planets now.  Would anyone really complain about a reset this early to set things right??  I know I could have used a break in between rounds anyway.

i wouldn't complain about a reset with a 3 day break or so to allow people to rest up and get a bit of a break lol

ummm look at the rankings *cough* suzuki90 *cough*

322,554  Command CWO suzuki90 4,058 2006-05-08 20:03:23   0 Rebel Wife Beaters   79 0

how could he get 322,554 score with 4,058 turns? can you check to see if it a multi? or he could of got lucky and found Dookie... "Dookie was killed in an accident," "Dookie's Empire now has 100 Million colonists"  maybe he is dookie's multi...  :?

anyway please look into that thanks,
