This worm known as win32/Mywife.E@mm and Nyxem.E deletes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe PDF files on Feb 3 if infected, Some people were affected early because their System Clock was incorrect.
""If you're infected and your clock is not set right, things could start to happen at any time, even though the official activation time is Feb. 3. We've already received first reports from users who've had files on their system overwritten by the worm," Mikko Hypponen, F-Secure's antivirus research director, warned in a blog posting."
The worm arrives by email with subjects refering to pornography. The worm executes when the user opens the attachment. The worm also has its own counting mechanism, and it showed 510,000 infected systems on Saturday, according to F-Secure.
Prevention: Keep your antivirus updated, and never open an attachment from someone you don't know. If you don't have an antivirus there are some free antiviruses out there such as: AVG Free, and Avast!.
