Richard Taylor—best known for his Oscar-winning work with the New Zealand F/X house Weta, as well as his collaborations with King Kong director Peter Jackson— told SCI FI Wire that he's spent four years developing a children's television production company, and that the company's first show, Jane and the Dragon, is currently in full production.

"There's very little television in the western world that empowers young girls to act above their station, and our story is a very simple story of a young girl born into a medieval court," Taylor said in an interview. "She's going to become a lady-in-waiting as her mother has and her mother before that, but she doesn't want to do that. She doesn't want to do that. She wants to become a knight, because by being a knight she can change the world around her for herself and her friends."

Taylor added: "Through her friendship with this big, green dragon, that's indeed exactly what she does. But, of course, with great power comes great decision-making. And we've tried to weave those central aspects into the story. We've sold the show into almost every corner of the world except North America, though it is screening on YTV in Canada. We're doing 13 hours, 26 half-hours. We're about [halfway] through delivering the shows, but we've finished all [of the] motion-capture. We developed a very unique technology that allowed us to make it. We're doing it as a co-production with Nelvana."

Dierna note: Sell it to North America! That way it can be on either before or after "Dragon Booster"! :D Seriously tho....will this be live action, animated, or CGI??? I for one would LOVE to see a show about a girl and her dragon! Especially since it's set in the middle ages! She could meet King Arthur and Merlin and stuff! :? :D
