A week of art. There have been a few interesting developements.

Austria holds an exhibition to mark China Year.

The year of 2006, the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as well as that of the Sino-Austrian Friendship Association, was designated "China Year" by Austrian President Heinz Fischer.
The exhibition is part of a series of "China Year" activities, among which, Dorotheum's collection of nearly 100 works of art from China and Asia has drawn a great deal of interest among its visitors.

not many people know about the close ties between these two countries.

Technology Remodolling The Art Scene
This interesting article points out the new trends of artists to lean more over to the hi-tech side of art from digital photographs to complecx algarythems that produce visual art. And also highlights the problems curators are having with providing spaces and and output areas for this new media, and new developments that we will be seeing in the future.

Artist Scraps Water Stunt
A performance artist has pulled the plug on a plan to waste 100 million litres of water after he received death threats.

good! The UK is in for a drought this year, and we cant be having a stupid waste of water like that. Art is not that important when it comes to life.

Damien Hirst conquers Mexico
Damien Hirst’s first exhibition in Latin America, “The death of God” is now at the Galeria Hilario Galguera in Mexico City. By the time the show of 28 new works closes in August, it will have been on display for a staggering six months, an unusually long run for a commercial gallery. Then again, it’s not every day that you get to show the world’s most successful artist in your brand new space.

I like some of his work

Art Institute gives blind a chance to 'see' art
Do Not Touch is the general rule of thumb in art museums. Which, for the blind, pretty much leaves them out of the art museum experience. The Michigan Avenue museum has re-created a handful of its art on portable, machine-etched plastic, which will help the blind to imagine what they cannot view.

About time too. This has been long over due. If only more places recognised the importance of including these people.
