Heya folks.  I am currently poking round the news for Game Developers Conference of 2006 held somewhere, I think its San Jose.  Anyway, I will be posting what interesting news I can find for you, most likely starting with the new Zelda game on the DS and other Nintendo news but will get around to other consoles too once the expected drooling has finished.  There is alot of news to come so please be patient.

Ok then, starting with The Legend of Zelda : Phantom Hourglass for the DS.  The video is available  from http://www.1up.com/do/download?cId=3148977

The game is based on the wind waker with cel shading mixed with the GBA style graphics.  Both screens  are used with the top screen being mainly for playing but it will switch occasionally.  The boss  at  the end shows the battle taking place on both screens requiring you to knock the boss down from the  top to dispatch him with your trusty sword.

The game uses the stylus for a few different functions as can be seen in the video, such as drawing  the path for your boomerang, drawing the hourglass that the game is no doubt based on and plotting  your course on the seas in your new boat.

Also on the Nintendo front,

Sega and TurboGrafx will be joining in the online download feature with Sega libarary of over 1,000  games from the sega genesis and a as yet unknown amount from Hudsons Turbografx console.  It doesn't  really state as to whether all 1,000 will be available or a selection but either way, its good news  for those who want those games from the past.  Full link is here at  http://www.gamespot.com/news/6146528.html

While I am at it, 1up also have the nintendo conference available for download.  You can read both  Gamespots and 1ups version of the events.

I think I will stop it there for now.  I will be posting more news sometime later on today hopefully.
