Ubisoft have decided to drop the controversial (in my eyes) copy protection program from their games. Some believe that the many lawsuits against starforce right now are a reason. Not to mention reports that it can actually damage the optical drives in computers that it detects illegal copies of its games on.

I'm sure some people heard recently of a starforce employee posting a link to a galactic civilizations 2 torrent claiming that thousands of people were downloading the game and that stardock the makes or galciv 2 were fools for not having and form of protection, instead opting to provide updates only to those who had actually bought the game and registered their copy using the serial number provided.
