Tomb Raider - Legend

Just completed Tomb Raider - Legend. I know it was not the toughest game in the world. It's been critisized for having too many check points, copying prince of persia, blah, blah, blah. :P

But, i have not enjoyed a new game so much in years! On the X-Box at least, it looked stunning! In game graphics are easily as good as alot of recent cut away video and scenes on other games, it's really that good!

Ok, some expert gamers or fanatical gamers will say its easy, but i am old school, i don't play a hell of alot of modern games like this or of this style, and it was spot on for my ability and experiance. Instead of complaining, try setting it on the difficult setting! That's a no brainer. *L*

If Tomb Raider did borrow from other games in its genre, so what i say! Tomb Raider started the whole thing rolling anyway, they are owed one! Or a few thousand. *L*

Anyway, nothing here to read really, other than a very strong recommendation to get this game. It's very enjoyable, it looks fantastic, the new controls for lara are spot on, definately good enough to continue with in future games.

I'd have to say, Lara Croft is back. This one works well.

The test of a great game is if you're sad to see the end credits go up. I really was. I've no idea what to play now, i've enjoyed this one so much. :)

Got to agree from a slightly skewed point of view as I've only played the demo, but what I found was a feeling of being Lara that I haven't had before, and the big grin plastered on my face as I impress the onlookers by flipping and shooting says a lot.

Gone are the standing-on-the-spot clunky turns, the leaps to your doom and in come almost balletic control. So what if it tells you what to do, with all the button combos in games these days my brain needs a kick in the pants.

I loved loading the crate on the see-saw, nearly freaked pushing another crate through slamming walls and stared at the bad guys through my binoculars with a sly smirk and a fully loaded gun.

Wow, maybe I should buy the full game... of course, I've only ever finished two previous tomb raiders, so maybe not :D

Easy games, smeasy games,  it's more fun to play for enjoyment than frustration and believe me, I've had my fill of those. We Love Katamari, Buzz, Tomb Raider, bring em on!

QD, who spends most game-playing hours screaming and scaring the neighbours. :D

QD : Yay! I love dragging those boxes onto things, and flipping them around with a see-saw etc too  :D *LOL*. Exactly how i felt playing. The controls are excellent. You're spot on, there are plenty of games that are unbelievably hard, so why not have one that is just fun, great to look at, great to play, and does not end up gathering dust because you can't kill a boss half way through.

I promise you, you will finish this game if you get it. Surely that's better than not finishing another tough game, or reaching for cheats etc. It's far more satisfying to complete a do-able game like Tomb Raider without cheats, than a impossible game with a god cheat or invinsible cheat ( i did refer to a walk through on one bit, a couple of other occasions i did too, only to be shown i was doing it right, just not good enough! *L* ) .

The game makers do succeed in making you over analyze on some parts, looking for a complicated way of doing something when the real way is so simple. I did use some bad language those times! :)

That's one of the best features of it. Everybody will enjoy it as a result. I never felt short changed either, because when you look back you feel like you solved some great puzzles. Everybody will solve them, it's just a matter of how long it will take to work it out before you smack your head and say "D'oh!" i cant believe i didnt think of that sooner! *L*

my completion time was a bit innacurate, cos i have a habit of going away, making coffee etc without pausing the game when i'm in an empty corridor *L* but, i think it was 11 hours total.

I want to enjoy myself when i play. Not end up more stressed than when i sat down to play! Too many games start easy, then hit you with such a steep out of the blue turn in the learning curve it's ridiculous.

Basically, it was just a breath of fresh air not to spend the whole time pulling my hair out. I had fun, I'm very glad this game has not joined my mountain of uncompleted games, which i consider a waste of money. I've got stuck in less time than i completed Tomb Raider legend. So its not hard to work out whats more fun, and whats better value. :)
