RACE WARS!
We all want race wars and we all agree it would help save or replenish the interest in OTF BNT. Not only would it create excitement, competition, and teamwork, it would also give all the noobs a chance to be trained by the best of the best. This would help all the newcomers learn the game without the need to change rules and game settings around to crazy levels. Kyp is aware that we want this but I'm sure he doesn't want to plan it all by himself. This thread is dedicated to planning on how we'd all like the Race Wars to go and presenting this to Kyp to have it implemented.
Teams:
Teams should be set up as having a fair and balanced amount of veteran players in each race. Teams should be populated on a voluntary basis, with force relocation only to balance the teams. The races should not be allowed to attack members of their own race in order to deter traitors or spies. The player with the best record or longest amount of playtime on OTF BNT should be the captain. The second best would be assistant.
Sign up, say which race you'd like to be and maybe who you think you could encourage to play with you (we have a lot of members to bring back if we can get this going). I am choosing the race I've always been, smuggler.

I will edit this post to reflect the changes. Some of you may want to wait until the other possible captains pick a race (XZ, Remulus, Exo, Seele...)
So just post and say who you might want to work with or which race you want to be on, just speak up so you're on the list somewhere.
Also, if any of you want to discuss ideas to help make race wars better, please speak up. (edit)
Taking into account some of the suggestions we've seen so far, the rules should be:
Interest: .05 planet / .03 IGB
Planets per sector: 5
NO CO-OPS
Race's aren't allowed to SCAN OR ATTACK their own race
---Rules under debate:
Sectors: 2000-5000?
Planet Size: 100m-300m?
Max turns: 2500-???
Not allowing turns to be bought?
IGB cap: 50b-????
And just to be clear here Kyp, we're organising this to help make it easier for you, not to undermine your authority. So if you could go along with most or all of the settings/rules we're proposing it would be awesome.
Also, those that are excited about this should be encouraged to go to all other BNT forums and advertise the Race War event to get new people, noob or pro to come play on the (previously) greatest BNT server ever. (google "blacknova" and post on every site that comes up).

i, in all my experience of domination in this game (or lack there of), think race wars to be a jolly good idea of the highest quality. While i know i'm not of the right caliber to be a captain or even an assisstant i look forward to actually making a difference and i volenteer myself in advance to be moved wherever in order to even out the teams. one question (to KYP)... if we are gonna do this INGENIOUS IDEA OF A GAME, would it be the next reset or a couple down the line?

I don't want to be a captain. I'd have to do stuff then and that takes time. Of course if I am voted to it well bad luck for me I guess. Race wars is fun although its been a while so I can barely remember how it all worked but we would need a better system of leaders or maybe alliances in each race so there is more control.

King Pin, this is perhaps the only time I'll say this to you, so cherish it. Your a genious!
I would like to step in for the rebel caption position, and think grife would be a great assistant, assuming he doesn't want to be a captain himself...
First off, the problem with attacking within the alliences is that people might backstab you and attack (no point in doing that though, since its a team ideal). The problem with not attacking within the allience is that theres no way of punishing those who sell you out... so that doesn't help much but eh.
No co-ops, that would be pointless. Its race wars, not team up on the other races wars...
Another thing, the rest of the picking (besides captians, assistants) shoudl be randomized.
Umm, standard set ups shoudl be used, i.e. the intrests.
So, if you couldn't tell, I'm totally all for this idea.

Plus im the only played to have nearly OWNED the server with my allience organisational skills!

but i see a nice flaw in your plan... nOObs dont come to forums... so basically the turnouts going to be low... need to speak to kyp... or get the word out...
Though i think RACE WARS should happen after this round. Give the admin a chance... unless they dont launch bnt ... and wait for a month ....
brainwave...
Launching it at the end of june... would possibly gain the maxumin attendence... as kids will be off school and such. at the moment... everyones stuck in exams!!! ... poor souls.
just best to throw ideas around and such now!

I'll Go Imperials I guess, like I always do, but not as captain, there are better people for that job but I might take Assistant. The other reason for being Imperial is that it'll be fun to go up against XZ for once.
Note: David changed the race he wanted while I was writing my post, so I guess we won't be against each other.
I also agree that to try it this round probably won't work as its too soon, surely there are thing that have to be changed for it to work. Perhaps this round Kyp can send through some messages to all the players advertising the Race wars for next round to get more players and help spread the word, even if they don't visit the forums they will surely read their messages.

Thanks exo, and you're right, it's easy to flame than to show appreciation, so thanks for the comment.
Seele, so which race are you picking? i couldnt tell.
I've done some editing to the first post, mainly the rules section. Hopefully if we can get everything ironed out beforehand as best as possible, the round will go very smoothly. Hopefully we would be shooting for a launch time of after this new round. That should give us 3-6 weeks depending on how this round turns out and how kyp handles it. That should give us plenty of time to plan this out and get the word out. (anyone wanna show off their art skillz with an e-flyer?)

All right EXO, you got a point there...
How much I dislike King Pin, he is the only one taking mathers in his own hands and not waiting till those admins do something usefull...
I must admit that with al the recent trouble going on here I didn't thing I would ever play here again.
But if The admins(Kyp?) set up the race war and pick some decent rules/settings...Remulus will return.
So I hope they do.
Otherwise I won't be leading the Jedi.

I know everyone wants a Race War and I plan to do this next round. This round isn't possible for a couple of reasons. The most prevelant is that unknown to the vast majority of you we are still ironing out the issues from when the old gaming database was deleted and getting things switched to the new db. The major issues are fixed but we are still finding small quirks with each reset. As the Race War would require signifcant monitoring and quite a few changes to the main scripts as well as manual changes to the database itself I will need more time to ready this. I do promise that I will spend all free time during this round to getting everything set up so the following round can be a Race War.

I did edit my post but I guess some missed that.
I did say Imperials and at that time David had another race on his post that he wanted to be, smugglers I think, then while I was writing my post he changed to Imperials so i had a contradicting post, hence why I added a little note. I will stick with Imperials for race wars and if noone takes the assistant position I guess I can do that.

Yeah King I will be XZ's assistant, I'll probably end up running the alliance as much as he does as usually happens in our alliances. But we work well together so its okay.
David, you don't SQL?? Its not that hard, insert into where, select, all easy stuff.
