why not star wars VERSUS star trek VERSUS whatever science fiction shows you nerds are in love with? Then maybe people could pick which way they want their ships to grow (example- somebody can have rebel ships while another chooses imperials but they are both based off the star wars team) so that there can be more individualism for the players. Or would this be so insanely hard to code that i shouldn't check for the race wars update for another three months?

When you register and choose your race you get to choose a ship class along with that race. What if we make it a rule that the captian can pick what race he wants his team to be? That way we wouldn't have to limit ourselves to a certain sci fi series, seeing as how it seems everyone likes different sci fi realms.
The rules would be:
-it has to be an established race or organization (eg, not "King Pin's army")
-it has to be from a sci fi realm.
-it has to be from a REAL (hopefully popular) sci fi series. (not some sci fi story you wrote in 8th grade)
anyone like this idea?

as for the settings for the game.. since i never really looked over them.. i think 4000 sectors, 300 mill per planet... 50B max on IGB forcing you to build planets to make any kind of money, 5000 turns and still being allowed to buy.. allowing for a start of 7500 turns... this makes it a quick start so you can get planets built, and a decent ship before anything big happens... now the only thing i think that hasn't been mentioned that should be.. is should there be a no attack period? I know Kyp prefers one.. but do you think we need one for race wars? or would it be more needed here than in normal rounds due to the team leads having to train up and help their "noob" members?
