Huygens Lander Movies
Titan, seen hiding behind Saturn's rings.
Don't get me started on the European Space Agency's record on PR. It is practically non existent. But, finally, in May of 2006, we get movies of the Huygens lander descent in January of 2005.
We get postage stamp bw images when the world is buzzing about this astounding mission. Now, when nobody in the media cares we get something to get the world interested in space exploration! Problem is, nobody will see these great movies.
Two great movies combining real data with computer enhancements show Huygens fall to the surface of saturn's moon Titan

The real plaudits on the PR side of this mission go to the enthusiastic amatuers who published colour images of Titan, and extracted fantastic computer generated images using Huygens data on the web within hours of the mission. ESA did almost nothing to generate interest or to satisfy those who followed the mission in the media.
ESA are now doing exactly the same on their Venus mission. 2 months at Venus, and 3 images! Thanks ESA...you spoil us!
