While I realize that this will have no value at all, reguardless of the amount of signatures... I just want to gauge any support I might have, in a totally non-PD breaking peaceful way :)

*l* Sorry guys, but - speaking here as a former ISA Director - security decisions aren't made by petitions and popular demand. Indeed, good security decisions are, more often than not, completely at odds with popular consensus.

My personal views on this topic are irrelevant. It wouldn't matter if this petition were to lower my best friend from SOT to Monitor status.

But petitions like this encourage an "Us vs Them" attitude. The current ISA Executives can't possibly take them seriously, since the whole point of having ISA Executives is to take decisions which are frequently unpopular, but necessary to be taken. Bowing to popular pressure is, by the very nature of the job, not going to happen.

I'd recommend having faith in our ISA Executives - who were selected for their exceptionally good judgement in Security matters. For every decision made, the full story is almost invariably not known in general. If a status change is made, it is for good reason. If it is not made, it is again for good reason.

If a status change is not made, and genuinely should be made, then either:

(1) It's almost certainly planned, and will be made during the next review of the Troublemaker List.

(2) If a genuine oversight, that is left for a considerable length of time, the best course of action is for ONE person to send ONE polite email to the ISA Director, requesting the status to be reviewed, if and only if it is indeed an oversight as suspected. (And not the result of incomplete information being held by the person making the request of the ISA Director.)

I consider you a friend, Steven, but my points above must be made.

Just my billion cents...

Cheers! :)

I'll even sign, but with the same terms and requirements as always before. :)  I think Steven is capable and a smart person, and hopefully will get himself off the troublemaker list. I fail to see this being any helpfull event to get ones status lowered. Emailing me is always more productive. I don't desire to hold people on their statuses by any means. Though it is not within my means to explain publically why people are a certain status. I don't think most people would like me to publically list their offenses in Forums posts  :)

Miss Moon: It is all in good fun, Iain and Zild are simply pointing out the futility of it. ;) The tough decisions are not for the masses to make, but those in the higher tiers. I've made far too many people mad in those higher tiers, this is just a sweet nothing to pass the time *l* like a forum game!

Iain! Thanks, you are at the heart a good guy, and it's a shame things went down like they did. I will however blame this particular psychosis on you when I pay someone stupid amounts of money to listen to my problems later in life :D

Yuri... you know you don't want an email from me ;) Or an email from anyone else about me. When these things happen I'm already in trouble, or quickly on my way :D

Polgara, learn your place :k OTF is real :P and I live in the brig!

To everyone else, thank for signing, your support in appriciated and will earn you a spot on my Christmas card list

*Walks in, sticks hand inside shirt, looking a bit like Napoleon*

Petitions are all fine and good. In a democracy, they matter a lot, because it's the voters that keep politicians in power.

But here at the Outpost, rewards, promotions, awards and so forth are based on real, definable, proven work. It is based on respect, behaviour and so forth.

No amount of public opinion will change the issues at hand, although I will concede it may have worked in one instance. But why? Because it reinforces the fact that people do hard work, need to be acknowledged and will be acknowledged.

And yes, I know quite well this isn't always the case, as a lot of fine men and women who have served the Outpost, pouring a lot of their sanity into the chat have gone very much unrewarded.

If you do good, ISA will probably let you off. They might need a gentle nudge, but questioning the authority of ISA with a petition isn't the way to do it.

Isn't it? Well, most of you here in this thread will remember me from my pre-(year) 2001 days. I made CL5 after pouring my soul into Simming. Suffice it to say, I got busted down to CL3.

But you know what? I went and I apologised to people. I made my peace with almost every single person and party involved and I can say several years down the line, I'm pretty good friends with many of them again.

I got back into Simming and, you may have your opinions of me, but I got Simming running. I got back to CL4 and so what if I didn't get CL5? I did something I loved for the Outpost. I don't care about a reward. With rank came responsibility. They didn't want the power in my hands, I didn't want the power either. Too much paperwork. I was doing what I loved and that was all I wanted.

If you really are that desperate, there are plenty of other chats and communities out there that you can gain "rank" in.

Steven, we've known each other for many years. I won't claim that we're friends, but we're buddies nonetheless. I wish you luck in getting off SOT status, but personally, I stand neutral in this.

I will end this by breaking into song: Que Sera Sera. Whatever will be, will be. The future's not ours to see, que sera, sera.

Because Steven, through good behavior and not a petition, earned his way to a new status.

I support the decision of the outcome of a SOT > Monitor review.   Downgrading in status is not based on a petition but is based on earning and showing.

Gamma: Please god tell me you took a breath or two while typing that :P

*hugs Jo... Eagle* :k

Kym, we have crossed paths a time or two *l* Oh, and I'm obviously not as bad as I used to be *l*

Miss Hottness: Oh you know ;)

Pols is the bestest!

Lzr_: Thanks... I think :?

In closing... The petition was a light hearted joke to begin with, that I giggle about with my ISA friends. Was a joke in May, and still is now. I bumped the topic to revive the joke and nothing more. In reality, the whole thing probably delayed my status change so no one would get the wrong idea, this had nothing to do with the status change... life changes did. You all should try them :) take a walk in the rain or buy a puppy or something :P some of you are way to high strung!
