I was wondering if anyone had any inside info about the new Trek movie scheduled for release in '08. So far, all I've heard is it will be about Spock and Kirk while in the academy. Anyone have any info?

Ben Affleck has to be one of the worst actors I've ever seen. I cannot STAND him long enough to watch a preview with him in it.

Oh, you poor naive, people. Google JJ Abrams and Star Trek Movie and you'll find something about him having said all the details floating around the internet are just rumours.... especially Kirk and Spock in the Academy.

I hate when they do that type of thing! "Let's leak that Spock and Kirk will be in it and watch the little Trekkies shiver!"  Hopefully it will be a decent picture.

Dmitri, teh guru has spoken! Feel at peace in his words. 
And a little update, as I am an Alias/Lost so tend to keep up with JJ Abrams and I have been following things.
Rumour has it that the film will revolve around the Romulan Wars. As for Kirk and Spock, I did hear that they may be a part of it, but I honestly can't see it happening if it does involve the Wars. An experienced Captain and crew are more likely... and I think I'd prefer that. So, if they are in it, we'd probably experience this through their eyes as they take their first posting.
I'd like to see both on different ships through this, jumping between both of their experiences in the war as they try to keep up correspondance.

They should do a DS9 movie... I mean come on... it was so open for a movie...
Sisko can be revived by the prophets lacking memory and cassidy yates can get visions from them.
Ezri must die.
etc, etc etc.... I should just beat Rick Berman until he agrees with me, I'll just have to dress up like an Orion Slave girl.... anyone got any green paint?

The rumor running around most of the Trek sights I visit and am party to, is that Patrick Steward has signed on for the new movie...so as dark as they had anticipated making the new movie...there is a bright spot...

it is Star Trek... as long as no one from Enterprise is staring... I'll at least rent it.
