Hey everyone! I'd like to hear what everyone thought of the new PotC movie.

Well I just wrote a clever film review on this movie and due to server complications, lost it.  I'm too frustrated now to try to remember what I wrote and rewrite it.

Overall, the comedy was too cheesy.  Orlando Bloom's character was too flat.  Kiera Knightly's onscreen kiss with Johny Depp seemed to come from out of nowhere and has left me utterly confused.  And the only part of the movie worth watching was Jonny Depp's acting.  Depp is sensational and never ceases to amaze me.

You're weird. :o

I loved it.  It was the sort of movie that I wanted to watch it again the moment I got out of the theater.  It just got bigger and better.  I think the scene that just killed me though was the water wheel.  Everybody stopped fighting to watch this thing go by, all in total amazement and wonder, and then they jump right back into fighting.  I'm sure the writers were peeing themselves laughing when they wrote that scene.

And "Look! *kablam* An undead monkey!" is a fantastic line. :o Admit it.

The comedy was just too unintelligent.  I reiterate though, Johnny Depp was funny but only because of his acting...not the cheesy lines that the writers made up for him.

I went back and watched the first POTC and found out where that kiss came from.  Seems that there was always a touch of chemistry between Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth which arose from Elizabeth's fascination with pirates after finding that necklace as a child.  She settled for loving Orlando Bloom's character because he embodied the perfect combination of true gentlman and roughish pirate.....but Elizabeth would always be attracted to the darker, more exciting qualities as possessed by Jack Sparrow.  This makes sense.  As humans, we are usually attracted to what is dangerous and unattainable, but we normally wind up making the more responsible choice...i.e., Orlando Bloom's character.

And now that I've psychoanalyzed this film to pieces (I could write so much more than I have, but want to spare you from having to read all my rambling psychobabble).....I will admit that there were funny moments.  The beginning of the film made me naseaus..literally..due to all the cheesy comedy, but the film did have its moments.  I agree that the water wheel scene was hilarious.  :)

As far as I could see, Elizabeth kisses Jack so she can chain him to the ship while he's distracted....I certainly didn't read that much into it.  And earlier when she was playing at him being a good man and all, she was just messing with him, trying to get him to tip his hand and all...

It's just a movie, dude.

Yeah, you're right.  But, was there an underlying chemistry?  Was she tapping into her feminine whiles just to get those things accomplished or was she tapping into something darker and more primitive that connected her with the pirate?  I know, my view on this one is going to get slammed.  But, I'm holding onto it anyway.

You know, my English Lit professor tried to tell me the same thing when I disected our short stories to death.  But, in essence, each storyline is written about people and the human spirit.  People aren't flat, they have so many layers just waiting to be explored.

I cant leave you lot alone for one month!

Pirates of the Caribbean is brilliant. Full stop. Period.
And the writers always said that there was supposed to be an underlying current between Jack and Elizabeth. Watch the commentaries.

(I tell you what makes it even more brillaint... the is a 'Shiny' moment at the begining. Browncoats will rise again!;)

I am a pirate so I get final say.
