Can you navigate at speeds so great a blink and you could be dead?
Can you fix a warp core quicker than your colleagues?
Can you command a troop of marines through hell and high water?
Can you send someone to their death?
If you think that you can do any of the above and have an acute knack for writing creatively and having fun with others, then maybe Zulu Fleet is the place for you.
The year is 2386, the United Federation of Planets is at the peak of its advancement, with over three hundred planets consisting of almost one hundred and seventy species within the Federation. There is no conflict between any of the major powers within the alpha quadrant.
During the later months of 2384 a peace treaty between the major powers of the alpha quadrant was formed. It led to mixed feelings throughout the quadrant. There were many individuals who believed that this treaty was much anticipated and that now that peace was forged there would be great advancements in both medical and scientific fields.
Of course there were small groups which felt that this treaty was another form of Federation control. These groups were at first regarded as insignificant misdemeanours, however when the terrorist attacks came, the foundry of the new alliance of the quadrant felt action should be taken.
The first attack happened in San Francisco, just outside Starfleet Headquarters. A group believed to have been known as The Fury, raised a planetary wide alarm when they attempted to overload a small warp core reactor. Although apprehended before the reactor had overloaded it shook the entire of the Federation, with an estimated death toll of about 17 million people, dying from the explosion, extreme plasma burns and extreme widespread fallout of theta radiation.
There were however some instances where the factions succeeded in their plots. A whole planets population was crippled when a number of factions simultaneously released a highly contagious disease, which killed virtually the entire population. It took an extremely long time before a vaccine to be procured and those that survived never needed it. They had a natural immunity. This complicated things further, as he vaccine was never tested.
Also, a Cardassian Starship hijacking which was followed by a battle with a small number of minor vessels, many of which were destroyed before a rescue fleet could be established.
It became apparent to the races of the foundry that a peace treaty could never be kept and so began a war within the foundations, when a number of Romulan warships engaged a small Klingon fleet. War had once again hit the Alpha Quadrant. Tension could not have come at a worst time when the Borg decided to advance on the Alpha Quadrant.
The Federation had to fight a battle on two fronts, the Borg advancement and the collapse of the Foundry. This meant deciding which was more important. Obviously the current problem was found to be too important to let get out of hand and the Borg are by the far the greatest enemy the Federation has ever faced.
So Starfleet Command decided o allocate a fleet to give them a three day pre warning of when the Borg reached the Alpha Quadrant. Starfleet Command assigned he only man crazy enough to fight the Borg head on, Fleet Admiral William Sykes.
The Admiral was given his very own Starbase and even a marine colony. His fleet was to be stationed in orbit of the planet Aeon. He would be sent ships whenever they were made available, or salvage ships that they had encountered that had aggressive tendencies and unfortunately lost.
