On Sunday the European Space Agency's "SMART 1" lunar probe finished its mission by impacting with the Moons surface.
Left to its own, the probe would have hit the far side of the Moon. But scientists wanted to actualy watch the impact through telescopes. So, it was decided to put the probe through a series of manouveres in order for it to crash in full sight of Earth.
These images are taken in the last few orbits of SMART 1. As it plunged towards the Moons desolate surface.
