STAY PROTECTED: Your AVG Anti-Virus Free 7.1 will be discontinued on 15. January 2007!
I would like some input on various "other" free antivirus software packages.

I've never run any of these. So, you're better off holding out for a report by somebody who has.
Thought it might help though.
If money, or lack of, is a problem. I'll say what i've said before on these forums. Give Linux a try. many Virus's do not attack Linux OS's. All Linux operating systems are free. You can also download a "Live" CD or DVD, meaning you can test drive a Linux OS without touching a thing on your PC, with no limited trial time.
Also, some Linux versions have a built in anti virus too, at no cost.
At very least a Live Linux disc could be a stop gap if you can't find a anti virus option before january. Giving you more time to find something. You'll be able to safely use the net with your Linux.

Erm, just upgrade to 7.5 free edition. They just made a new version, and haven't cancelled their free version completely.
