I play the games from Decipher, Inc..Star Trek CCG 1E, Lord of the Rings TCG, Star Wars CCG.

Also dabbled in the Star Wars RPG and now currently involved in a Starcraft RPG.

Sadly, don't have World of Warcraft yet...will get it when I get a job again, lol.

PC games: Starcraft, Diablo 2 (had a lvl 77 necromancer before my hardrive died..*shakes fist*), action half life, the Myst games, and SW: Battlefront.

Hopefully, I'll also be playing the Stargate SG1 TCG when it comes out in February.  Looks like it could be interesting..hope it stands up to the quality games of ST, LotR and SW. :D

I am a video game addict. But i'll restrain myself from my usual type post ( about half a mile long :P )

At this moment, i am mostly playing "Secret Weapons over Normandy" by Lucas Arts on the X-Box. At the mo i'm flying a Mosquito light bomber in the game, which is cool, because my grand dad built them during WW2!

I play Forza Mororsport, FIFA 07 off and on, and EA Sports Cricket ( i beat Australia every time, so maybe they need to look at how realistic the game actualy is ).

Plus a whole bunch of old arcade games. Street Fighter, King of Fighters, Galaxians, Pac-Man, any old school Japanese sideways scrolling shoot'em up i can get my hands on too.

Favourites over the last year of playing would be....

Tom Raider Legend.
Battlefield 2 Modern Combat.
Aeon Flux.
Justice League Heroes.
Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2.
Project Snowblind.

So you play Secret Weapons over Normandy and Tomb Raider Legend too Anth? :)

Well well, it is a small world after all. But i have SWON on PS2 not X-box. Still it is a great game.

I an looking forward to the next Tomb Raider game. Tomb Raider Anniversary.

I forgot the Prince of Persia games too. They are very entertaining. Anyone else who likes them?

If you like SWON you should check out Blazing Angels - Squadrons of world war II.

That's one of my favourite games ever. Forgot to put it on my list before.

I'm actually trying to decide what new pc game to buy.  I'm not a big fan of the violent "DIE DIE DIE" games where all you do is sneak around and kill people.  I do like player on player fighting games but I've got a hundred of those for GameCube and Playstation.  I like Myst, but I think that's a little too slow for what I'm looking for.  Something adventure/action but not all death and blood.  Any sugestions?

Have just completed "Secret Weapons over Normandy", damn good game! Challenging, and good fun. Great stuff from Lucas Arts.

All i have to do now is complete all the challenges i never bothered to do, and then i can unlock the X-Wing Fighter! Letting it loose on 1940's Europe. :D

So, now i've returned to Blazing Angels on the X-Box. I just got past Paris which is where i gave up on it before. So that's looking good too.

Why is it you struggle like hell on a game, put it away, bring it back out, and do it first time?

On a side note.....

Video games are getting easier, and shorter don't you think? Take a SNES game if you don't believe me, and compare it to a modern day game. Many SNES games would take alot longer to crack, and were nearly impossible to complete for the average gamer. Today, you die, you hit continue, and carry on! safe in the knowledge all your progress is saved, no matter what.

In the good old days you went right back to the start! With this saving the game lark, it is so easy.

Todays generation do not know what a hard game is! In many games, you spend more time watching a video than playing too! In other words, not only are they easier, they give you a ten minute breather between levels, and show you a movie instalment to help you out further.

If somebody could magically give us old timers back the reflexes we had in the 80's, we would wipe the floor with the modern generation of gamers, no problems. :P

Anth ( AKA Devils Advocate )

BTW, i like modern games alot, i am just saying the above as a way of generating discussion. I mean what i say though. *L*

If you want a breather playing older games, can't you just hit pause?

And I hate movies in games.  Talk about slowing down the action.

I really cannot remember which game it is recently. But it takes about 10 hours to complete. Over two and a half hours of that is video!

Hitting pause meant getting out your chair, and pressing a button on your console. But, yes you could if you wanted.

Mostly, you did a level, started the next one to have a look at it. Then got so absorbed you just carried on.

Back in the really old days, like 1978, on the Atari system. Most games were pretty simular all the way through, things just got faster  after every level, or more of them to shoot etc. You kept going until it really was impossible to carry on.

You'd have to be Data to complete many old video games! *L*

Setting a high score, or a personel best was really the only aim you had when you began playing a game. Nobody ever really thought they could finish one.

Some of the difficulty on the Atari i've since found out was down to the horrendous joystick. If you play the same game on an  Emulator, with a modern gamepad they are alot easier. *L*

Currently playing my mega drive collection conversion for the ps2. 28 classic games including all three Golden axe games, sonic 1 and 2, Altered beast, Ecco 1 and 2, the works! If I bought these on my Wii VC it would cost me a bomb!

I paid £16.99!

Oh I RULE at Mario Kart Double Dash.  I also have smash melee but I'm always playing by myself and I don't find it that much fun alone.

Uh...I could tell you where to get it cheap but it's just a used games store here in town.  Those two games end up there eventually.

Mario Strikers is also a totally awesome game.

Anth, ooh, that reminds me, back when we all used MS DOS and Windows 3.1 we had this awesome tetris game that got harder as the high score went up. i.e. the game assumed it was the same person playing the game as who had gotten the #1 high score and it played to that person's level.  I had that score so high that I couldn't actually play the game anymore.  The blocks came down so fast you didn't have time to shift them over or rotate them.  It was just bam bam bam bam game over.

Needless to say, my father was annoyed that he couldn't play tetris anymore.

My dad used to hide his new computer games in MS DOS in WEIRD places so that I couldn't beat them before he even had a chance to play them.  Those were fun days, sifting through tons of random directories....

Tetris is one of those games you can never get old of, it's addicting to play.

As for you and your dad, it reminds me of me and my brother. He would always beat a game before I do. I remember using excellent excuse on several games:

Star Fox- I actually beat the whole game, not using the cheap shortcut ending.

A Link to the Past - I beat it on a color TV! :o

Then eventually I began to beat games before he did, he was not too happy when I beat HIS copy of Final Fantasy 8 before he did. *nods*

Secret weapon over Normandy is a fun and challenging game. Some missions are a little hard and you need to react quickly if you want to achieve all the primary and secondary goals. If you are unable to fulfill a secondary goal you can replay the level again later with a better and faster plane and beat it then. Like the ME262, i managed to prevent the Stukas from sinking the Wakeful in the Dunkirk missions thanks to that planes speed and firepower.

And it is fun that they mention Norway, Denmark and Sweden in the game :)

Polson : *LOL* can imagine your dad struggling as those blocks whizzed down!

My only brush with MS DOS was a Microsoft space simulator, i got to PC's quite late in life, so i missed the boat with all that. I remember having a stack of about 20 floppy discs having to put one in after the other to install it. It took forever!

DarthBalco : Here in the UK, we have lots of places dealing in pre owned games. You can take old games along and exchange them, add a little money and get the game you've spotted in there if needed. Maybe the games you've taken in work out to more than the game you want, if so you walk out with them paying you.

I won't do that, cos i won't part with any of my games. *LOL*

E-bay is always worth a look too. :)

http://search.ebay.com/search....le+dash

Cutemcgyver : The Scandinavian countries do get a mention yeah. It's a pity the Danish scientist is such an annoying jerk though. :P
