There are likely groups on ravelry for Star Wars/Trek/LOTR inspired knits.
It also brought to mind these Dr Who inspired socks, which I considered knitting: Weeping Angel (unfortunately need Ravelry to view, most like)

Thanks for sharing our link. Ravelry definitely does have a great selection of patterns but it's far from complete - hence this site.
