What race was Elrond's brother, Elros (not very imaginative with names, eh?)?

Well, since there are no other takers...
Elrond's brother Elros was human...Elrond was elven...but how can this be you might say! Well their parents were an elf and a human and the offspring (Elrond and Elros) were given the opportunity to choose what their fate would be, human or elven. Elrond chose elven obviously and he was also called Elrond Half-Elven because of his lineage. This also will explain why his daughter Arwen was able to choose mortality when for other elves it is not possible.

Dialing it down a notch.
Which crops belonging to Farmer Maggot did the hobbits pilfer ( A ) in the book? or ( B ) in the movie?

(A1) Frodo stole mushrooms from his fields often as a younger hobbit but (A2) he gave Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin these goodies when they passed through on the way to Rivendell. (B) Not quite sure... Definitely carrots, but a few other veggies as well?

That's an interesting bit about Elrond and Elros, I didn't know that
I've probably visited Farmer Maggot's farm in LOTRO, but I still have no idea. I'll say:
A) Turnips
B) Cabbage

Prancing pony indeed! Second is 'guy with a spear in the final battle. There is also the pirate ship in the last one. He is the pirate captain that is shot by Legolas.
He also did a second prancing pony bit and a dwarf in the hobbit trilogy
