OTF will soon extend to a broader range of SF and FY topics, in form of chattops - but of course also Avatars. So now we need your input as to which ones you will be able to choose Avatars from.
The list below is just a few examples - there is lots of room for further suggestions and comments, it is far from complete. You also can of course say: I don't care about Dr. Who or Star Gate ... leave them out! (I'm aware, it's unlikely to happen in those cases)
Doctor Who / Torchwood Stargate and Stargate Atlantis X-Files Babylon 5 Battlestar Galactica Heroes Buffy the Vampire Slayer Angel Harry Potter
Happy Discussing!
Soka, Avatars Team Leader - and (so far) only member
Of course, all these avatars, no matter which topics, will need to actually be made too, so if you would like to take part in that and are at least CL3, bump me a mail to soka@gmx.com

I'm sure all of you see this coming but...
Marvel Comics heroes. I really don't see how they can't be considered sci-fi/fantasy.
Also Firefly/Serenity.

Custom Avatars for veteran OTFers other than that, i say Flag Avatars... so you can show what your country of origin is... I have too much going on me mind for avatars like Anime (very broad one), more trek, SIMPSONS/Futurama, etc...

Could always do a series from book illustrations and stuff like that, just to broaden the perspective... Old classics like impressions from
Alice in Wonderland Alice through the Looking Glass Inks from Poe's work Hammond's illustrations for Tolkein Artwork from D&D Some fabulous 50s alienesque cartoons Asimov inspired artwork Screen caps from things like Day of the Triffids, the 50 foot woman, invasion of the body snatchers, the original king kong etc...
I dunno, just to also reach further back, rather than always looking at what is the thing that is happening right 'now' could help get a different perspective in here?

I noticed Pheebs mentioned D&D art. I'd also like to suggest artwork from Magic: The Gathering (the card game)

Though what about movies, such as:
Blade Runner Dune (it had Sting it wasn't all bad) Flash Gordon (Brian Blessed = win) The Aliens Series Metropolis (the 1927 classic film)
are we limiting ourselves to TV?

Thanks for all who suggested stuff already, keep it coming!
Here's a summary of what has been suggested here so far ...
Marvel Comics heroes Firefly / Serenity red shoe diaries Anime Simpsons Futurama Narnia Smallville Magic card-game Supernatural Zardoz Old Classics
Chronicles of Riddick Blade Runner Dune (it had Sting it wasn't all bad) Flash Gordon (Brian Blessed = win) The Aliens Series Metropolis (the 1927 classic film)
No FM, we are not limited to TV of course (otherwise we'd have to get rid of SW and ... well, let's say it's not happening )
However, OTF still is supposed to be centered around SF and FY, so I'm not sure if these suggestions will be considered:
Flags Teletubbies Crime Series

I vote that the next time people start arguing over silly things again, we change everyone's avatars to Teletubby ones. Or Barney, maybe. I want to see the person who can take themselves seriously with an avatar like that.
On second thoughts, though, do it when I'm not around. I like my brain un-fried.
This completely un-constructive, tangential, irrelevant post brought to you by War Inc.

Veteran OTFers: Members who have been with OTF since the opening. I am a veteran OTFer, so yeah, we should have our own custom avvies
as for general choices, my are listed below.
Stargate Atlantis Transformers (Old and New)

I confess...I may not switch my Ezri avatar for even a sweet Carter avy. Despite this, if Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis don't make it to the list *shakes fist* you will spend your life looking over your shoulder, Soka!
Bria, do your worst! My avy is immune.

TMNT! There could be avatars for the TMNT and their allies, the Justice Force, and Klunk and Shadow and Karai and Shredder and Viral and Karai and....have I mentioned Karai??
TMNT has plenty of sci-fi...there's aliens (Triceratons, Protoceratons, Fugitoid, Utroms, Draco, ect).
How bout custom avatars for members that have been around for 8+ years?

*lol* I already said yesterday on msn to Wolfie that I already can imagine Iain grinning michieviously while he starts coding a new Armory function called Tubbie-bomb. I have little doubt it'd be more effective than even a Thermal Detonator
XZ: No, I did not forget it, as it is in the list I originally posted, and that summary only contains stuff that has been suggested additionally
Polson: I keep looking over my shoulder anyway, so what?

I dig Sliders, Lost and... Seaquest DSV
Don't we already have a set of charmed avs? I'm confused!
Could do Stardust and Northern Lights movies?
Could do some other films that converge on cross-over genres like 13 Monkeys, I am Legend, I Robot, AI (A lot of 'I's going on here ) Wall:E, Clockwork Orange, (Dare I even suggest... but) the M Night Shyamalan movies, etc...
What about the good old classic Back to the Future (and sequels)?
For those Brits and the hangers on to the good old Brittish TV system: Life on Mars?

FIREFLY! Must have Firefly/Serenity avitars! The fan following is really honestly huge, but because fox was stupid it's life was cut waaaaaaaay too short!
Stargate also needs to have a presance here. THen super heros - ie: Batman... (just saw Dark Knight tonight... can i say amazing? Heath Ledger was awesome! It so sucks he's dead!) Transformers is a good idea the New Robin Hood - from BBC - I love it. Or heck throw in some "Men In tights" can't go wrong there!
