Ok I have no idea how to create a poll on MiniBB (or even if its possible  )
I want to gauge people's interest in learn web development, from html, css, to more advanced things like php etc. At present there is an old Workshops floating around OTF which basically links to off-site tutorials. I was given the go ahead to redo this a couple of years ago but never got the tools I needed to do a proper revamp, now I have these im considering doing it.
The concept would be that you login, select "courses" and study the material, you could contact a "tutor" which questions and take a test that tracks your results in various sections etc. Each topic would be split up so HTML Text Formation, HTML Forms, CSS positioning div's etc with a few generic overall tests for HTML, CSS, JavaScript etc.
I'm curious if people would prefer this method of learn by yourself, receive assistance when needed or some form of 1to1 email course with lecture times etc
Please respond by letting me know.
A) if you think it would be a beneficial thing for the community as a whole.
B) would you use it.
C) which learning option you would prefer.

I would love to learn it, Ice. Just would have to find a way to work around my weird schedule to do so.

I think it's a good idea.
Right now I have to teach my new minions basic html myself,
if we'd have that option they can learn themselves, which'd save me a lot of time.

The concept for this system has expanded to include other subjects, so if anyone has other topics they are specialist in whether it be maths, english, science, trek knowledge whatever. If you'd be interesting in writing up tutorials/quizzes and general tutor work.
Same goes for any topics you'd like to learn about (within reason obviously )

I am really glad you're doing this, Ice. The old dept structure was essentially a mentoring structure.. I am excited to see some of that coming back.

Digging up an ancient thread, wahoo.
I think this would still be a great idea for OTF. It would open the possibility of more interaction between members, even allowing members to contribute more to the OTF society eventually.

If we're going to be digging up old threads anyway.
We used to host html/css sessions in one of the spare rooms. We don't have spare rooms anymore, but it was nice. I've had these thoughts of sessions too lately.
