Impluse Engines anticipated by 2030?

The University of Alabama in Huntsville's Aerophysics Research Center, NASA, Boeing, & Oak Ridge National Laboratory are working together on a scheme to make nuclear fusion impulse rocket engines. This would allow us to travel around in space faster than ever before.

Yay for impulse drives!

You may be interested in a theoretical "warp" drive as well, since we're talking about propulsion systems! It's called the Alcubierre Drive. It's a neat idea, however it runs into the problem of not having a method of turning it off at some point, which might be important.
