Okay, so this is one thousand posts. See, I'd thought maybe I'd just goof around and not make but one post a day until my birthday, which is July the 11th. Sounded pretty danged good to me, y'know, just for the simple fact that I'd be givin' myself a nifty little present. Well, I got so danged tired of waitin', what with all the interestin' and neat threads out there. So here I am now! One thousand.

Okay, here's what I want you to do. Want all y'all folk out there to list five things at the Outpost you're thankful for. The things can be websites, people, whatever, so long as it follows all that stuff on the Prime Directives. 's not a popularity contest, 's not gonna be a shoutin' match. Alright? Got that? Okay, here I go!

I'm thankful for...

Hydralisk, a fella who unbeknownst to him, made me take a good look at myself in the mirror. He gave me a little more strength to carry on here and not resign. And if I could have another brother, one that I could pick for myself, he'd be it.

Zilette, the tireless Boss Dragon who never seems to get appreciated enough. I love her as much as I'd love any of my aunts. She's one of the gals I'd most certainly put my coat down in a mud puddle for. She's one classy lady. All of my success here is owed to her, and this place aint got snuff without her. *gives 'er a big giant Dragon Hugs*

Ten Forward & Alder Hill, the two chat rooms I hang out in the most. Since v2, and since December, both of them have provided me a better environment to just sit and hang around in. Without Ten Forward, my home on the 'net for nearly four years, I'd never have met 99.9% of you. I've spent many an hour in both, chatting with friends and talking to myself.

The Forums have given me the opportunity to better communicate some of my own thoughts, feelings, and opinions with the membership in a way that was uniquely different from the chat rooms. On them, I've learned a lot about many a person, much of which I've taken back to the chat rooms with me. There have been a lot of great, funny, and thought-provoking threads in the past eight months!

And finally...

The friends of yesterday, today, and tomorrow; the ones I knew, the ones I know, and the ones I've yet to meet. To the ones of yesterday, I miss you. To the ones of today, *grins* thanks for everything. To the ones of tomorrow, oh boy, what's next? *laugh* Great things can be done by yourself, but greater things can be done with a friend.

1000, for you.

Congratulations, Robert  :D

Glad to have met you, and I am pleased that you have finally suceeded in what may be a hard thing to match.

My things I am most thankful for are:

The ability to put a tagline in.  I have tried day by day to think of something funny, and some of the ones I have read have been very funny.

All of the friends I have made over the last seven months.  There have been a lot of them.  For this - thank you  :)

I am thankful for a place where I can go to escape and chat to people I have never met before - and they will treat me with respect, even though I may be the most peculiar person in the room.

The trivia nights.  I may be useless in some of the topics that are chosen for trivia, but I try to rack up the SP's nonetheless... :D

Lastly - the forums, especially when I am in work.  I cannot always go into the chatrooms when in work, as I go in, and then have to do some work.  The forums are easier, as I can reply when I get a chance between phone calls..

I hope I haven't waffled on too much..

Regards
Dwayne Hicks :)

*looks at number of posts for Robert*

oh no...you're back to 1 post. :?

I'm sorry, but you'll have to start all over again. :D

Seriously, congrats and you now have your special rank as I promised. Lzrman will provide you with an graphical award that you may add to your dossier, thus increasing the size of your ego.

Note: I'll look into what happened to your # of posts...must be a glitch in the system.

Ok Robert. *LOL*

Well done, I knew that you would get there, and I cant wait to see your award!! *LOL* I'm hoping to reach your milestone by March 2004. (my birthday).

What am I thankful for?

  • One thing that comes to mind is CCC. CCC is where I met the girl who I would fall madly in love with and hopefully spend the rest of my lfie with...Sarah/Saria.
  • The truly amazing people around the outpost. I dont meant to pick favourites or anything, but a few what come immediatly to mind are Richard (your been great, thanks mate, for everything :) ), Mezzy (remember when I was two whole clearence levels ahead of you, now its you whos two infront of me :P ), Katelyn (you been a good friend, and great person to get along with :) ) , Rubi (your a truly great laugh, always fun to talk to and I'll still buy you all the coffee) and, last but no means least, Sarah. :)
  • The trivias. A great chance for me to show my stupidity and sillyness. *beams with pride over my rank :D *
  • Besides the people mentioned above, everyone else I've met. Your all truly great people, and friendly, honest, funny, amusing and incredible examples of human beings. *big OTF group hug*

I begged my mother to take me to Jack In The Box for weeks. Finally, she relented one night, and we went. I got the meal with the large drink. Low and behold, get the drink, and it's some freaky tenth-anniversary 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' thing. Eh. thank you AJ for the kind words *hugehugs & kotc* :)

Top 5 things of goodness at OTF that I'm grateful for

Tierce - Tom offered me a postion in Engineering back in 2000. He taught me HTML into the wee  hours of the morning and never once got impatient with my questions. He also taught me about graphics software and FTP. He is the a huge factor in why I chose to pursue a web des/devo diploma in college. He also warned me about OTF politics and to stay on the fringe as much as possible and just be happy.

TexXx / JJ / Glenn / Damos ~ This fantasic four used to make the entire Cantina come alive at night and has us always laughing and acting silly. Glenn used to feed us starwars geeks with hella information about Eps I and II :k While the trekkies were wondering when Piraeus was ever going to grace them with an appearance, these four were doing it! Night in and night out. It's the reason I switch affliations, for the fun! Oh and Ivy and JR! I miss ye  :D

Trivia Nights ~ I looooooooooove trivia and am passionate about playing it as some of you know :k The only thing I've yet to accomplish is beating TexXx at Star Wars trivia. The only time I've won the title is if he's not playing :P

Departments - I'm grateful for the departments which I feel are under utilizied and in the future they will become so much more important as we mature as a community. Y'all that don't browse the projects are missing out! They truely do enrich the community.

Deputy Sector Commander - When I was asked to be the new DSC for the Cantina I was in shock *lol* Not in a million years did I ever see THAT comming. sheesh!  When I first joined the Cantina I was sure Draco and Athos were going to rule it until the day it shut down *L* I promise the Cantina is so going rule mightly one day :k trust me when I say Glenn and I are working on it. be scared and be prepared.

I also am thankful for every newbie that joins the Cantina and enriches the chatroom conversations! They aren't hyper aware of rank or position so it's always fun to talk with them and share new ideas. It seems we rarely discuss SW anymore unless a new patron gets us into a conversation about it. Star Wars is my passion I hope that we can get back that lovin' feeling and discuss more often than we have.

Now for my 5 OTF greatful's!

    1. Rubicon: People like her give you the inspiration to do such graphics as you noticed above for roberts 1000th post.

    2. The ISA: For keeping the chat in-line, and the occasional ISA'er :k

    3. The variety of Outpost page styles: Gives everything a fresh new look, spycam, department pages, colorshemes.

    4. Robert Griffith: if it wasn't for him *l* we would be out of forum topics to discuss *lmao*

    5. For Friendships: Without them, the community would be a baren wasteland. With friendship brings a new sense of wonder into all OTF'er's lives.

Well done Robert!  :) I knew i should have patented "Forum Guru". I could have got a dollar everytime somebody called you it! *LOL*

    my five....

Jadzia. She was a ray of sunshine the day i first met her in tf. And every day now she makes me feel luckier and happier she's in my life. Love her loads. :)

The great crowd that greeted me in TF on my very first visit. And made me want to come back. Coming back and making otf part of my routine changed so many things in my life. Robert was one of those present. And so was Kamin. Thanks guys!

Z for making me see how i could contribute. Starting me writing, and encouraging me. And giving me the chance to do some work for the outpost. Library, film guild, and now the tribune.

Demon Slayer. My first real friend from online to become so in real life. Have been lucky since to meet others through him. And i never fail to be suprised by what a great guy he is.

The way this place and the people i have met have given me an understanding of this computer i sit at. When i joined i knew nothing. I still cannot believe i have my own homepage. and i can even create these silly threads with jadzia, :D and i can do many things i couldnt have dreamed of doing without the knowledge and guidance picked up through otf.

    Thanks all.  :)
