Hey, folks!

Well, I had a weird thought the other day I wanted to share with you kind folks. Got to thinking about what words we use around here, what things we see, do, and what we talk about on the Internet. What happens when we go offline, though? What part of 'this' is taken with us?

I was watching an episode of 'Deep Space Nine' the other day. First time I'd seen an episode of the show in, oh, two or three years. And Vic Fontaine stood up on the stage and started singing. I had this almost gut instinct to yell at the television, "Shut up, Vic!" Then I caught myself. Oops. Yelling at Vic? Why? What'd he do? He's only an automated adverti... wait. Automated what? No, he's a television character. Geez. Anyway, you see my point.

So, what words, people, phrases, and sounds do you experience in real life that have been changed somehow, some way, by your time at the Outpost?

After I hear a few of yours, I'll list some more of mine!

Hey Robert G

I had a surreal experience watching star wars recently, when parts of my brain insisted I'd spoken to most of the characters.

Other than that there has been a propensity to lurk, some bounding into the rafters, and the deep desire to enclose my actions in ** to make them stand out.

And they say you only learn things from books :D

I thought i'd go for the thouroghly unoriginal post and talk a bit about Guinan's mess...

Firstly, as we all know, Guinan doesn't do cleaning. TF is filthy. The pool is so dirty that it's become less of a pool and more of a Jello filled trampoline... (Somebody want to tell the newbies this?)

So, we turn to TNG. Week after week, we saw the crew hangin' out in TF. And week after week, something unlikely but entertaining would happen. Usually, something would happen so that the ship'd get a bit ruffled-the crew thrown from their chairs or whatnot.

So what happens to the stuff in TF that gets... displaced? Everytime (and i mean EVERY time) i watch TNG, i cant help but chuckling to myself about how clean TF looks...

'Tis a strange little world we've created for TF-but i'm not complaining :)

And, once more, i've rambled on for ages on complete and total nonsense... Maybe i'll go and bounce on the pool...

*wanders off*

Gosh, I think about Ten Forward itself. As someone said, you know, we have a pool in Ten Forward, vats of different toxic and tasty liquids, a bar as wide as it is long, secret torture chambers, rafters that hide all sorts of species, a firing range, airlocks, big red booths, and an innumerable number of other strange features the members have added on over the years. Honestly, I think the only things that haven't changed are those same floor-to-ceiling windows that we all at some point or another stare out at.

Look at our avatars. I go in as Leonard McCoy(2). I've been in as just about every male avatar there is. Now, when I watch the series, I kind of feel weird, seemingly looking at myself. And why is it all the annoying people come in with the Wesley Crusher avatar?! *laughs*

Ah... yeah. The word 'Outpost' is kind of strange. Today, I was filling out this form up at college. Asked me for my e-mail address. I started to write, "rag451@outpo..." I had to stop myself. Scribbled that part out, started over again. Nearly wrote 'CL5' in front of my name once. Oy! And really, it was odd when, one day, I was laughing fit to kill. I actually mumbled "ROTFL" as I was laughing. That was weird!

I'll think of more later. :P

Well, I have to say, I've had almost all of those thisng happen... and Robert, its much more embarassing when that form reaches its destination as "Lieutenant Steven Norton" and not my real name, *if there are any people that work at Visa, I'm really sorry about the appy, I'm a a total nutball*

But, on to the original.

Jemmima and I both had stories of how we've had dreams about a party, on the Outpost, and we we're both being promoted in our dreams... so the Outpost doesn't just take ahold of our real lives, but even our subconcisious, making us realize the serious deep seeded problems one developes from staring at a computer screen for far too long...

Hmm like bringing chat/Outpost words to RL? Hmm... I have actually spoken "lol" a few times. Like Steven, I think I have also dreamed about events happening on Outpost, or even possible RL Outpost unions...

*lmao @ Pols* I hadn't thought of it that way, but now that you mention it...

I look at our avatars, then I look at the episodes I come from, all the while saying, "Wow... I hate Wesley Crusher. Wait. Shaun uses the Wesley avatar. I don't hate Shaun. This does not computer! Aaah!" Of course, this was back a long time ago when Shaun actually did use the Wesley avatar.

"BNT" has been creeping into my nomenclature. When I've been typing in the chat room, or typing for whatever purposes, I've been tempted to write BNT almost every time I write "BTW". Creepy.

Uhm, what else... *thinks*

People's names, or handles, rather, get hold of me. Eagle, for example. I look at bald eagles on television and snicker, because I have the yearning to call Eagle a "bald eagle" in the chat room. And, oh, many other things. I now think all people who live in Washington and visit Utah are weird. *nod* =P

The 'Soul' c-family, well, that's changed my entire usage of the word 'Soul'. Everytime I hear the term "soul food," I think of the Soul family. Gaah! It's screwed me up real bad.

That's about it for now. =P

I say "shrug." I don't shrug. . . I say shrug. Though sometimes I shrug and say shrug at the same time. But that's not really so much an effect of OTF as it is an effect of chatting online.

Along the same lines, Alexis says "sigh." And sometimes sighs "sigh"... There's also this annoying urge to shout "Michiel!" at random times in groups of people.

Oh yeah...there's also the itching need to open spycam after you leave a room. And I have the hardest time with not being able to save things that happen that are funny. . .
