Greetings!

This is now the Outpost's official thread for all of your suggestions, ideas, and comments thereof. As Project Leader of the Suggestion Box, I assure you that I will read each and every one of your posts, e-mails, and submissions. Feel free to make your suggestions as long or short as you like, to tactfully comment on others' ideas, and to participate in any and all other capacities you so choose.

This thread will be moderated. Replies that are degrading to others will not be tolerated. Abide by all of the Prime Directives and you'll be in good form!

If ever you want to discuss in private any suggestions you feel should not be posted on the forums or submitted to the box itself, or if you have any questions about the Suggestion Box, always bring them to me personally. I'll do my best to reply within twenty-four hours or less.

Alright, let's see what we can come up with! =)

How about a link back to the home page from the chat room exit page? If there is one I've missed it and I don't always want to leave the site after ending conservation.

You could make a link shaped as Federation's comm badge in the corner of every page which would lead you to instantly send an e-mail to any OTF member. So when you click on the comm badge you could choose any OTF member you want and send him an e-mail.

This is less a suggestion, more a thought...

Maybe it'd be nice to allow members to submit ideas for the el-aurian/wookie cookies...

Now that i think of it, could something be worked out so that members can use the armory to send messages better than now? I mean, could we maybe replace "KC has thrown so, how'd ya do that then? at KC at 19:56:02" with Guinan saying "Excuse me, KC, but KC has sent you the following message: "how'd ya do that then?".

Maybe not in those words, but, y'know... something of the sort. Obviously, have it through the armory-just nicen it up a bit ;)

KC
P.S. I wonder if Nicen is a word...

Heyo!

Firstly, please dont point out how obvious it is where I got this idea-i already know ;):P

Right, y'know how, when someone's had a birthday, award or promo, an icon is displayed in the chat rooms under their handle? Well, how about we get one of them for peeps who are celebrating their anniversaries? I dunno, maybe have it a firework, a champagne bottle or maybe just the number of years. Maybe have something like the birthday viewer (possibly duplicate available functions) appear when the icon is clicked.

S'all from me,
Hugs,
KC

Heyo! S'mee back again!

Y'know in the Spycam? Wouldn't it make a lot of sense to have a link to the ISA troublemakers list and/or the OTFHQ? Granted, this would really only apply to non-ISA CL5s, but there are lot's of 'em! This would mean that peeps wouldnt have to open a new window and log in to either function if they wanted to check someone's status in the rooms... *nods*

S'all for now!

Firstly, the Anniversary suggestion is very good - it gets my vote! :)

Secondly, I think that the EPL is already linked to for ISA/CL6+ in the cam, but it's a little tricky for me to test that theory! I think from my own experience that it would be very useful for CL5s as well as ISA/CL6+ to be able to see people on the Troublemakers List flagged when they're logged in, even if not their full IPs as well, to save them having to check the actual list daily to find out who's on SOS/SOT, which is very timeconsuming.

I'm going to reply to these one by one. I have formatted each, so don't be surprised if I deleted stuff. If you want to quote me, I suggest doing so by copying and pasting what I say, and not this entire message. Don't want to fill the board with stuff that's already been said. . .<br><br><!--QuoteBegin--kevkc Sep. 12 2003+07:44--></span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td><b>Quote</b> (kevkc Sep. 12 2003 @ 07:44)</td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"><!--QuoteEBegin-->Right, y'know how, when someone's had a birthday, award or promo, an icon is displayed in the chat rooms under their handle? Ah, I've seen the EPL myself once or twice, and it's a complicated bugger, or was... the last time I saw it. It might be beneficial, as Iain said, if CL5s and above had their own "brand" of Personnel List that included just having bold red IPs and handles or accounts for those people on Monitor, SOT, SOS, or whatever. Then they could check the HQ to see what it is, or however it would be designed to do that... can you tell I'm writing from the seat of my pants? Don't reply to that Michiel...<br><br>Yeah, sounds good to me. I'll see about contacting an ISA officer to come look at this, (they're really supposed to be, since I asked very nicely, but they're busy so...) and we'll see what comes of it!<br><br>Thank you for your suggestions. I had a flash of inspiration today in Biology. The things you think of when you'r bored! :D

There are lots of sites out there that will translate websites free of charge. How about we get a link to one of these sites? Maybe have links that will lead directly to a translation of the homepage in French, German, Dutch, Swedish, Spanish, Chinese etc. While these translations are *ahem* not perfect, you can usually make out what's being said. I think this'd be a great feature for the site to have as a huge number of members don't speak English as their first language.

Thanks,
KC

Hey there,

I was just looking around the profile system in particular, the skills page. I was thinking, it'd be helpful-especially to n00bs, to know what's what there... for instance, the HTML section... what does one classify as "know the basics"? Where do you cross the line from "intermediate" to "advanced"? Maybe short descriptions of what the EC/ENG describes as each of these levels could be added to help people along? This way, the skills on offer could be properly used-allowing the outpost to get to grips with it's membership's talents...

Thanks,
KC

Outpost 10F has always operated on the English language. If you so desire, you can send your suggestion through the Box, and I will forward it; however, at this time I do not think it one that will be acted upon.

LzrBug, we could always have something added to the e-mails we send to the people who register.  It wouldn't be that tuff to add to the message taht we already send to them.

OK, I know I'm rilly lazy!, but when you are in the middle of a huge thread that is like 25...45...55 pages long and you want to get to the end of it, but you didn't go to the main page its on and just press the last page number out of pure laziness, and then you have to keep clicking the highest number in the sequence to get to the end, it's quite annoying! Now, grant it, I'm new to the forums, so I don't know all the little short cuts and maybe there already is a short cut for my laziness, but I just wanted to suggest that maybe on the thread themselves like at the top where it states the number of pages, maybe that could be a short cut link to the last page. Or maybe there could be some page-jump feature added to the threads. Just a thought for us lazy people out there!

Well I had a few suggestions, don't know what they are really worth but here goes:

For birthdays, I think it might be good to have a small text displayed as you enter. For example: "[Rank][Handle] turns [age] today! Congratulations!"
The cake could also stay for a week like the promotions and awards, that way we can still know it was someone's birthday if we missed him the day in question.

Then, about chatrooms, I was wondering if anything could be done, but the cantina seems to be usually more populated than ten forward, we could add another star wars affiliated room or a fantasy one, now that AH is out. The Rotarran and the D'Deridex are hardly visited outside events, maybe there should be something done about them, like removal, advertisement, different use,...

Last, regarding the armory, I think it would be a good improvement to allow the user to type his own body function in addition to being able to pick it from the list, of course unless you want to limit imagination in the armory.

not sure which of those could be applied but anyway,

thanks.

I was thinking about the line the other day *love it, keep it*
and was wondering *if it's not there already* if there couldn't be something similar created to take you to the first of a new bunch of posts in a forum thread. Sometimes overnight, you can get a whole bunch of replies and- never being sure where I left off :D- it forces you to wade through.
When you need to remember a place in a book, you use a bookmark.
Forums needs a bookmark ;)

Otherwise, the world is pretty darn perfect in outpost land right now :)

I have a quick question, if I had a suggestion for, say, the library, would I put it through the suggestion box or the library itself?

I like to play E-mail RPG simms but know how hard it is to find peeps to play. Could there be somthing like a data base for bios sorted into ST, SW and other. The GM could then contact the player by the attached e-mail addy and see if they want to play that particular simm.

At least if you put it in the Suggestion Box, I can keep a record of whether or not someone replied to your suggestion, whereas you might find that more difficult.<br><br><b><a href="mailto:rag451@outpost10f.com">CL5 Robert Griffith</a><br>Suggestion Box Project Leader</b>

Hi Lupus,

Just such a system is about to be relaunched: it will be called the "Docking Ring" and any OTF member may request that their PBEM/RPG be added to the list of simms on it, sorted by genre. Look out for it within the next month. :)

Okay, back again like a bad penny. I've just done a simm that was, for lack of a better term, wanting for simmers. Maybe folk need a little incentive, hands up who plays trivia just to get a shiny new rank change...? Maybe something similar could be installed for simming, with a rank award of Super simmer for the person the simm leader feels simmed the best, and Silly simmer for the just plain daft?

Anyone else think it's time the CCC bar was upgraded to TF standards?

Being able to view login records and the such in TF is a great advantage that CCC doesnt have...

The jukebox... maybe let people send in their fave radio stations and have the jukebox display a list where they could pick that one to listen to. Joint project between ENT and ENG, maybe?

Thanks,
KC
