Just to inform everyone that there was a transit of Venus on the Sun today and I actually saw it myself with my solar eclipse glasses from 1999!!!! It was situated in the 5 o'clock position when I looked!
It was a good thing I brought the solar eclipse glasses into work today as at least 20 people from work wanted to see it!!!
I was very popular today I'd say!!!!
Here's a link to the BBC for more transit news and pictures from today!

Enjoy!

we were observing it at our university. We showed loads of people (about 1000 we reckon! ), and got lots of media attention!
Hopefully our pictures will go up at http://www.astrosoc.org.uk soon!

We had a great view of the transit from our back garden. I had a solar filter on my telescope which showed it in great detail.
Once i get back online at home i'll be posting some of the best images i gathered during the event.
Three cheers for the British weather! For once it did us UK astronomers proud...I got sunburn observing though. Not usualy a problem for us telescope peeps.*L*
