We interrupt to bring you this special bulletin:

I MET DOCTOR WHO!!!

Okay, so I should be hung, drawn and quartered for not calling him the Doctor, but eh...

Mister Colin Baker (the Sixth Doctor) and Mister Sylvester McCoy (the Seventh Doctor), along with Miss Katy Manning (Jo Grant) were in Australia to do a mini convention thing, which was more like a two hour long "interactive lecture" where they showed clips and had a Question and Answer session, later in July. I couldn't afford to go, though.

Lo and behold, in the newspapers on Thursday, it proclaimed "Colin Baker & Sylvester McCoy APPEARING INSTORE" at the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) shop in Sydney from 1 to 2pm and I went into portents of delight. So today (Friday), as soon as class finished, dad picked me up and we raced there. Who'da thunk it that two hundred people would be there already?!

Unfortunately, Sylvester McCoy was ill and couldn't make it, but there was still one Doctor left! So, I waited patiently and it was worth the wait!

Above: Mister Colin Baker (the Sixth Doctor) signs my copy of the Sixth Doctor novel Synthespians™. The two ladies behind me on my left had a nice chat with me for the half hour that we were in line. Please don't notice my bald patch!

Above: The autograph!

Colin Baker is a very nice gentleman who, despite two hundred people, some with "ten DVD covers for him to sign!" was very charming, who took a few moments with each and every person who came to visit, which was nice. Note: This wasn't a convention appearance and while he got a fee, he (and Sylvester who was ill) was basically doing this promotionally, not for money.

That just made my day. I'm happy now. I got to meet the Doctor!

Sprigging right I'm happy. Hell, my parents noted I hadn't been this happy in like... Years. It was actually a pure fluke I even saw him, because it wasn't part of the convention and I didn't have any other notice apart from a brief half second glimpse of a newspaper.

It was also exceptionally lucky my dad was available, since he lugged the camera and he also held my place in the line since I had the foresight to dash across the street to buy something for the Doctors (at that point I didn't know McCoy was going to be ill).

I was considering buying a black "Daleks EXTERMINATE!" T-shirt, but that too was expensive. x.x What the felgercarb is with the expensive merchandise? $80 Australian (that's what... $50 US... Maybe about 30 pounds? ) for a little pewter twelve inch Cyberman?

I don't think Seattle got any conventions... I believe Los Angeles does, though... Pity.
